3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Shared with PaleAleRider at Pub Italia. Best before date is 01/08/2015 with a 11% ABV. Pours a cloudy yellow colour with a warm cap, great retention and some foam lacing. Smooth Belgian yeast aromas over bread malts, mild spices and lemon citrus notes. Nice bitterness and very light tarty mouthfeel. Flavours of beautiful fruitiness with grass and hints of sugar. A very nicely-balanced Belgian Ale that is worth savouring... taking your time.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
0,7 l bottle shared
Appearance: A golden body with strong bubbles. On top there is a very big white head. The head colapses with quite some lacing.
Aroma: grainy malts, fruity esters, some lemon and honey.
Taste: moderarte sweet grain, fruits, honey, herbal-grassy hops.
Medium body, strong carbonation, boozy feeling (not there in the taste.)
Champagne beer ? Well it copied the carbonation and the fruityness with the hidden alcoholic boozy part, but aart from that the taste is just another Belgian Ale.

4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Cloudy golden color, fizzy white head. Pleasant and fairly mild aroma with notes of flowers, butter and a cellar. The flavor hides the high ABV and comes out as an easy-going Duvel. Medium-full body, medium-high carbonation. Nice, though not quite in the league of Deus Brut des Flandres.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A golden, strongly bubbling beer with a very big and blond head. The nose has grainy malts, fruits, some lemon and honey. Taste has grain, fruits, honey, herbal-grassy hops, strenght of alcohol but without taste. Medium+ bodied, strong carbonation that is slightly bubbling in the mouth. There is something luxorious but still slightly blend, I was expecting more.

APPEARANCE: clouded blond beer, nice stable white head.
NOSE: caramel, rather sweet in general.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JAN 13, 2015 Tasted under its original name Malheur Brut Réserve and under the later name Malheur Bière Brut, this was the first of the ’champagne beers’ which appeared on the Belgian market around the year 2000. Poured in a champagne flute, this beer has a coarse but thick and firm, snow white head and a pure and deep golden blonde colour with very fierce, indeed champagne-like fizz. Unusual but attractive aroma of hay, soap, dried lemon peel, cava, old cheese, walnuts, vanilla, biscuit, chamomille, apple, dough and something plastic-like, but not disturbingly so. Dry taste, applish fruitiness, starfruit, very spritzy, yeasty, bready, with champenoise carbonation stinging the tongue, refreshing, with yeasty finish revealing some herbal hops and gin-like, warming alcohol. Very enjoyable apéritif, appetizing and more ’beery’ than its competitor DeuS Brut des Flandres by Bosteels.
