3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Martinus (1878) - Nijmegen, NETHERLANDS - MAY 2, 2013
Clear golden colour, slight wisp of yeast, white head. Aroma of hops, malts, citrus, alcohol, apricot, honey and liquorice. Quite bitter flavour, sweet malts, hops and liquorice. Quite dry. Malty finish, light sweet, lingering bitter hops.
Good brew. Quite surprised about the liquorice in a blond beer.
(From 75cL bottle @ Great Belgian Beer Dinner 2013)

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 sebletitje (5536) - Enghien, BELGIUM - FEB 3, 2013
Sample @ Brugge Bierfest ’13.
Dorée-orangée, col blanc, qcq bulles style champagne.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 77ships (2239) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - FEB 2, 2013
75 cl. bottle sampled @ Brugs Bier Festival 2013. Pours hazy golden to tad orange with a white head (reasonable). Smell is a bit dull with some tuned fruits, touch overripe peaches, white bread dough, tad mouldy, zest & overripe fruits. Taste is tad bitter esters, BE hops bitter, overripe fruits, BE yeast, muddled & tad dull, overripe peach, zest, sweet spices, heavy dough, touch herbal. Carb. is a bit high. Quite a bit dull & tad muddled. I quite love their chocolate champagne beer but their others, this one is not very champagny…
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 jabbeloo (73) - Denderbelle, BELGIUM - JAN 20, 2013
In my view one of the best beers of Belgium. This beer is in balance from taste body and aftertaste. The hoptast is balanced and inline with the alcohol level.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 JorisPPattyn (7363) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - DEC 27, 2012
Huge, dense, yellowish-tinted head turning fluffy, yet impressively stable, over champenoise-pearling golden beer, clear-metallic. Rather malty nose, tad of citrus, waffle dough, grainspices. After a while, some meaty esters and cigarleaf aroma emerging. Bitter-roasted taste. Again a flavour as frum kümmel or other grainspice. Bit of ureum, cheesy, herbal - if all in very moderate amounts; Cigarleaf returns retronasal. Slightly burning MF, obviously spritzy, medium bodied. All in all, pretty complex. In this way, it’s more impressive than Champagne. For the rest, it resembles it indeed too much in neutrality and overcarbonation. In the line of similar hypebeers.
