berntholer (1054) - Antwerp, - JUL 1, 2013
ivory white stable head that disappears with foam head and structured lacing. dark clear blonde. aroma is yeast, spices like coriander, slight alcoholic and a bit sweet. very alcoholic taste, can’t pick up anything else really with a alcoholic finish, warm, pepper. warm mouthfeel from the alcohol, medium body and carbonation. meh, not a big fan of these champagne beers, but their dark series are better imho. bottle 75 cl / best before 1-6-2014

Flaska från Beernavigator drucken med ölföreningen. En trevlig champagneöl. Kryddig typ snapskryddor, lite äppelglögg, torrt vitt dessertvin, söta gulvita godissmaker (vitt vingummi, gul fruxo) och samtidigt lite torr känsla med örtig lätt kryddig beska. Snygg och god.

caesar (5345) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - NOV 10, 2014
Bottle from Burg Bieren, late & dry hopped limited edition, large sample. Hazy golden color, medium frothy head with quite large bubbles. Aroma of wood, peppery yeast, bit fruity, champagne, floral, slight funky note even. Slight sweet in taste, spicy, slight bitter. Quite dry in the finish. The funky note makes it that little bit more complex. Good stuff.

Alengrin (2464) - BELGIUM - SEP 5, 2014
Limited dry-hopped version of Malheur Bière Brut, with very stable, moussy, cream white, dense head and hazy golden blonde colour with vivid sparkling (though not as fierce and delicate as in champagne). Aroma of apricot, bourbon, dough, orange peel, Poire William, old ’jenever’, white grape, bubblegum, cinnamon, freshly grated ginger. Strong fruitiness, sweet with sharp carbonation, exotic fruits, sugary, caramel malts in the middle with spicy accents, lively and supple with grassy hop bitterness in the finish (though not as strongly dry-hopped as expected based on the description on the label) and lots of bourbon-like alcohol, badly hidden and somewhat disturbing. Interesting, but with a disappointing finish.

Bottle, 75cl corked. A big, white head forms over an almost clear golden body. Lacings. The aroma is quite fruity, with some cellar and alcohol. Some yeast and pale malts. Some hoppy hints, and a tad too much alcohol. It’s quite dry on the palate, with an appropriate carbonation level. Still, it’s quite sweet tasting, with fruityness, some cellar and pale malts. White sugar hints in the end. Overall, this one’s too warming, and I find it a bit boring. But heck, it’s not bad. 140830
