Backlog rating. Bottle at CBC Clerkenwell, Gunnar tasting. Thanks to Chris for this one. It pours a dark brown color with a medium beige head. Aroma is cocoa powder, burnt wood, dried berries. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter, with notes of licorice root, toffee, espresso and dark chocolate. Medium bodied with oily texture and soft carbonation. Overall, I liked this quite a lot

Bottle @ home, Israeli tick. Pours a black appearance with a brown creamy head. Cola, chocolate, chalk, and some roast in the nose. Medium bitterness. Moderate low sweetness. There’s some anise, light smoke, and chalk in the flavor. Fine.

Bottle. Pours a dark, opaque brown-black with a creamy, fine-grained cinnamon-colored head -- there is no light getting through this. Very oily pour. Nose is baking chocolate, ash, smoke, roast meat, and dark fruit. Not as heavy as it looks; pronounced dry coffee and chocolate flavors, shading into black licorice. Some herbal notes. Not much carbonation. Finishes clean and herbal -- almost minty, with a touch of minerality. Good.

330ml bottle. Aroma is full of roasty malt, dark chocolate, toffee and black bread, with faint coffee and a certain tangy note. Dark brown-black in color with a persistent, fine, dark tan head, this was bottle-conditioned but I left the majority of the sediment in the bottle. Flavor profile is full of bittersweet chocolate, dark malt roast, toasted grain and toffee, some faint licorice and molasses here, finishing semi-dry and seeing a touch of hop bitterness late, along with that discernible tangy note as before. Very smooth on the palate with a mildly effervescent feel and a medium body. Some nice complexity here, this is a good example of the style and my first Israeli beer.

330. Thanks, A! Pours jet black with a loose and sudsy grayish head. Very sweet nose, a little milky, lots of milk chocolate. Thick and sticky mid palate with moderate carb. Very sweet mid palate, especially for a dry stout, lots of unfermented sugars, chocolatey, a little bit of sweet fruitiness like snack cherries. Long sticky sweet finish.

Bottle 330ml. Dark black with low brownish head. Aroma of coffee, sweetish milk chocolate, roasted malt, faint vanilla note. Flavor of coffee and roasted malt, sweetish milk chocolate, medium bitterness. Gritty texture, moderate carbonation, medium body. Bitter coffee aftertaste.

Poured from bottle to glass. Opaque hue with creamy brown head that settled. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, cocoa, toffee, molasses, soy, cola. Mouthfeel is nice with a medium body and crisp carbonation. Taste is dry sweetness throughout with a great astringent bitterness in the following and a slight metallic finish. Overall this is a good brew.
