Bottled 09/11/12. A pale straw coloured beer with a big lasting white head and lace. Bitter orangey Centennial hops in the nose. Sharp hoppy bitterness in the mouth. Citrus fruits and a spicy sting. Balancing pale malts. Tasty.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Yet another light coloured brew with citrus overtones that although refreshing and obviously well made, just bored the ares off me. There are so, so many like this on the market currently and I for one am fed up with them. I should have asked for a sample instead of going for a pint. 25th July 2014: Pheasant, Wellington Shropshire. Sorry you guys at Mallinsons, not my thing: but I have tried to score it objectively.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
500ml 4% bottle from Cott. I like their goldens, but this isn’t the best, they’re a little low on hops but the base beer seems to be effective. Light and refreshing with a little bitterness.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
500ml bottle. Pours cloudy straw colour with lots of sediment and a small white head. Not much on the nose, a little mild citrus perhaps. Sweet nectarine flavours, light tropical fruit, a little honey, leading to a moderately bitter hoppy finish. Well balanced and very easy to drink.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
My Bottom Line:
This pillowy Golden Ale’s pine needles and earthen bark moves into grassy resins for a very drinkable forest microcosm.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam tops the hazy yet shiny straw blond.
-The flavor profile is mighty refreshing, yet perhaps linear. Could use some citrusy brightness in there somewhere.
-Malts share some blades of hay.
-The mouthfeel is dryish and the carbonation fluffy.
-This is exactly the kind of beer a lot of North American brewpubs could brew but don’t, for some reason.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma: Juicy orange, lemon and kiwi fruit.
Appearance: Hazy pale golden body with tiny yeast flecks floating around. Thin white head. Light lacing.
Taste: Lemon, grapefruit, blood orange and pale malt. Quite sweet and juicy. Low bitterness.
Palate: Thin to medium body with an oily texture. Soft carbonation.
Overall: A succulent, fruity Pale Ale. I could happily drink this again and again. Mallinsons consistently brew superb sub 5.0% ABV beers and are quickly becoming one of my favourite breweries.
