3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at home, Batch 162 at 4.2%. Black pour, massive tan froth. Nose is big roasted malts, hint of cheap dark chocolate, some black fruit. Develops into a bigger, smoother milk chocolate note as it warms. Slightly sweet palate, more black fruit, not much chocolate, long ashy roast finish. Bit thin, not enough chocolate for me.

Hand pulled at the Wellington, Birmingham. Opaque black, with red shards. Fairly thin in the mouth, with dark choc emerging mid way, then a pleasing finish of sweet notes and roast very late in the throat. Needs a little more thickness and aroma, but otherwise well balanced.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, mybrewerytap.com. The aroma is sharp and acrid, the taste is a great balance between bitter chocolate and grassy hops. On the back of the throat is rich roast malt, bittersweet and juicy. Poured thickly, with a tan head, small amount of sediment.

Cask handpul at Ship & Mitre Liverpool. Black with a light tan head. Good choc without going over the top but lasys and lasts in the finish on this fabulous choc. Really good. Just lacks a little in the body. Hoppy for a choc stout too. Such an impressive brewery.
