Pale blond with a good hop aroma and a slightly spicy nose, the finish is strong and bitter. Brewed using only Columbus hops from the USA.

500ml bottle from Valhalla’s Goat, Glasgow (at Shawhill Farm) - hazy golden, thin white head, pine, citrus, aroma, minimal lacing, grassy, grapefruit flavour, bitter hop aftertaste

Bottle from Beermoth, Manchester. Dropped unlucky with this one. It wasn’t in the best nick, although well in date. Anyway; hazy golden. White head. Lemon grainy aroma. Some grassiness. Dry, bitter palate. Bitter finish. All subdued by an unwelcome, vinegary mustiness. Will have to re-rate.

Bottle from ’Jacks’ Westholme Stores, Goring-on-Thames, Oxon. Consumed at Little Meadow campsite, Bredon, Worcs, Friday 20th September 2013 Pours gold, with white head. Very nice hoppy golden ale decently hoppy, a little drying. If I was a bit critical I would suggest that maybe its a little thin, but it is really nice. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov13 3.4

Almost clear gold beer, little white head. Light crisp palate. Thin creamy malt. Minerals. Citric bitterness, notably grapefruit. Finishes crisp with strong grapefruit peel bitter linger. Pretty drinkable but Columbus is normally more characterful.

500ml bottle from Beer Gonzo, Cov. Ripe humming hop nose with yellowed Feta, orange oil, dragon fruit, fennel, dank liquorice and shrivelled satsuma. Resinous oily pine, biscuits, cream zested with lemon rind in the mouth. Cask-like mousse with fine floaties and subtle condition. Bright gold, mouth-filling, snow-capped and lacy. Columbus a prime candidate for single hop treatment but Mallinsons could conjure a thing of beauty out of rainwater and rotting dog tods. Got to love Mallinsons. Yessir.

500ml bottle. Pours cloudy pale straw colour with a small white head. Citric and slightly earthy aroma. Tart citrus flavours, some resin, dry maple, chicory, a slight earthiness and a long, intense bitter finish. Light to medium bodied with lively carbonation. Delicious.

Tap at the Anchor, Digbeth, Birmingham. Poured a hazy light straw colour with a thin white head and a little lace. The aroma is of mango leading to a medium bitter, malty spicy flavour. A little oily too which wasn’t expected. The bitterness in the finish lasted forever and makes for a super refreshing beer.

Bottle from Great Grog, Edinburgh [230413]
Light blonde, big frothy white head, clear, some lacing
Aroma of citrus zest, lemon, touch of soft sweet spicy hops, light fruity sweet pale malts, some sherbet
Taste of bitter citrus zest, lemon, some floral notes now, light sweet pale malts, soft aromatic woody notes, hoppy for the abv, good flavour, quite a complex hop
Palate - soft carb, light body but a little oily too, good mouthfeel, bitter hop palate with a background of fairly sweet light malts. Fairly bitter dry zesty finish - same lingering spicy herbal notes come through in the finish with a touch of grass and peppery light wood.
Overall - Very well made for the abv and the hop flavour had some complexity.
