COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & bottle conditioned; Occasional.
Pale blonde with a fresh lemongrass aroma. The taste is bitter lemon hop with a bitter, lightly dry lemony finish. Brewed using only Sorachi Ace hops from Japan.

500ml bottle, Rehills, Ncl. Lemongrass very obvious in the aroma, but some fiery ginger on the back of the throat. Late, late sweetness gives a fine balance to the initial bitter tang andthen a pepperiness comes into the nose midway. Really nice looking dusty pale yellow beer with a very clean white head.

Bottle from Rehills in Jesmond. A hazy straw coloured beer with lemongrass and tropical fruit flavours and a bitter and ’perfume’ hoppy finish.

Bottle conditioned, 500ml. Lightly gauzed, brilliant straw with a high, uneven foam not going anywhere. Incredible aroma mingling star anise, sticky Chinese sauces, pine, mouldy satsuma, damp rabbit (have a sniff), Feta and tamarind. Softer and more nuanced than your usual Mallinson’s single hop effort with a delicately pungent, aniseed-sprinkled, piney, Ribena....something that’s difficult to describe, or stop drinking. I’ve given up trying to describe the aromatic properties of Sorachi Ace via the medium of words, but it’s becoming a top three hop of mine and one that seems to work particularly well in the single hop context. Flecks of creamy malt for dessert. Utterly seductive.

Gravity at Birmingham Beer Festival 2011. Coconut aroma. Taste is coconut, herb and perhaps some aniseed. Sharp, spiky finish. Long, tight flavor. Lingering dryness. Very good.

On tap at Craft Beer. Now That’s What I Call Hops 22: Sorachi Ace. Clear gold beer, little white head. Light semi dry palate. Light lemon cream getting a little lost in a fair amount of citrus bitterness. Some juicy fruits before a pretty bitter finish and a long bitter linger. Ok but found this a bit harsh, especially for a Sorachi hopped beer.
