2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: OCT 5, 2012 Pours clear, dark brown/copper. Strong foamy head disappears quickly. Smells mostly of ripe fruits, but there’s a slight alcohol/phenol aroma to it.
Tastes very sweet at first, but ends with a nasty, slightly oily bitter finish. Not a bad beer, but nothing very special.

Bottle at Scotch Inn, Malmedy. Very dark brown, almost black. Thin off-white head, scant lacing. Aroma of caramel and cigarettes (in a smoky bar!). Taste was sweet, syrupy caramel and not much else. Boring.

Pours a dark brown color with a nice beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, liquorice, brown sugars and spices. Flavors of strong roasted malts and liquorice, dark fruits and caramel, with spices. Good carbonation, little sweet and good bitter dry, with a creamy finish. Reminds me of some stouts. Very pleasant flavor and testure for a winter brew.
