Alengrin (1743) - BELGIUM - SEP 5, 2014
Tripel from the Oostkantons region with off-white, stable head and hazy ’old gold’ colour. Aroma of apple, straw, grass, pineapple, iron, roses. Fruity taste, well-rounded, malt sweetness with caramelly touch, bit honeyish, creamy mouthfeel, bit buttery, restrained grassy hop bitterness in the finish with some warming, gin-like alcohol. Too benign to be a great tripel.

Bottle at Chriso going Dutch tasting, 03/07/14. Murky orange with little in the way of a head. Nose is tarte fruits, nail polish remover, spice, citric rinse. Taste comprises light chlorine, pear drops, sugar, spice and not too many things nice, light booze. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close. Pretty piss poor showing, not often I give a beer outside pale lager/malt liqour this kind of a score!

Craig on Heat Tasting at ChrisO’s. Lightly hazy gold beer, small white head. Palate is light and dry. Modest fine carbonation. Weird bitter almond taste and something cherry like is giving this a mutant cherry bakewell vibe. Opens up a little and becomes half drinkable. Light dry finish. Strange beer. No chlorine here. After 5 decades in swimming pools, I know what that tastes like and this ain’t it.

Medium, white head dwindling over yellow-golden beer, initially lively carbonated. Dry, grainy and spicy yeastesters in the nose. Dry, again quite spicy flavour. Flavours fading away rather quickly, leaving a rather empty, very dry finish. Not only the flavours, but equally the carbonation is fleeting, getting tired and lifeless. Remains an indifferent sweetish-dusty impression. The attenuation is tripel-like. The rest is, frankly, boring.

McWorta (594) - LUXEMBOURG - APR 11, 2014
Shows a honey golden yest cludy/murky coloured beer with a fast fading white head. On the nose aromas of freshh green grass, floral and green apple with hints of fresh green leaves. The taste offers a surprising sweetness of malt cookies, esters and dough. Leaves a light sourness on the palate too whilst having a light lively slick texture. Medium-full bodied with a fruity sweet light sour lasting finish.
