3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 Rune (5039) - Tromsø, NORWAY - FEB 15, 2011
330ml bottle, bb. 16.01.2029, at Villi Wäinö, shared with Matti. Near-black with a shimmering, dark ruby shade. Naked surface. Inviting aroma of dark fruits and berries. Rich and sweet flavour of earthy malts blended with plums, prunes and liquorice. Lingering aftertaste with warming alcohol. Full bodied with an oily feel. Good sipper (Helsinki, 06.02.2011).
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 FatPhil (6219) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - DEC 12, 2010
330ml bottle (why so big?) (Restaurant Aino, Helsinki)
6 On pouring, there’s a potent fruitiness, but it’s more burnt and alcoholic than fruity. Anna says "brownies".
4+ Jet black, tiny tan head, which doesn’t stay at all. For our second glasses, the head stays longer, and nearly merits a 5.
6- Crikey - what a burn! Initially quite astringent and ashy, and definitely alcohol fuelled. However, once you’re past that shock, there’s a fairly pleasant roast with burnt raisins providing some fruitiness and toffee.
3 Biting palate, carbonation crisp. Finish roasty and burnt. Alcohol, ash, and hops all tingle the tongue.
13 I feel guilty giving this only moderate scores on the individual features, but it was a bit over-the-top in every aspect. All in all not unpleasant, but in a 330ml bottle enough for 4 people as their after-meal drink.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Hermod (1697) - Vantaa, FINLAND - DEC 10, 2010
Bottle @Villi Wäinö. Poured black color with a very thin, beige head. Sweet aroma of plums, rye and liquirice, some alcohol. Flavor is burnt malt, rye, raisins and some alcohol in the finish. Interesting beer, but probably something I will not try again.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 lusikka (2536) - Tampere, FINLAND - SEP 29, 2010
330 ml bottle @ Gastropub Nordic. Rated @ 14.5.2010.
Pours a pitch black colour with a tiny brown head. Aroma of malts, dark fruits and wood. Flavour of roasted malts, mild hops, salty licorice and dark chocolate. A bit weak on the flavour though. Full bodied with a lovely oily mouthfeel. Almost like an Imperial Stout.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 sayravai (4548) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUL 26, 2010
(Draught@SOPP 2010, sampled 2010-04-09) Very dark brown, no head to speak of. Plenty of malt in the aroma, with warming alcohol, some licorice, and a touch of vanilla. Viciously malty, sourish flavor with licorice and roasted coffee. Quite full body, but clearly lower viscosity than in, say, Dark Horizon, of the same ABV. Alcohol well hidden, but peeks in the finish. Quite interesting and successful experiment, but I don’t think it becomes a regular product.

Clear dark black brown color with a small, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, dark berry, cheese notes. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, dark berry, dried berry. Alcohol is very good hidden in the beers ... Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20100701]
