Bottle from the brewery. Dark brown color, beige head. Bitter taste with chocolate, caramel, bread, nuts and malts. Smooth body. Bitter finish with malts and a bit of citrus. Very nice brown ale.

Bottle. Amber, hazy, small to average and fully diminishing head. Moderate malty and sweetish aroma, caramel and light roasted malt with faint coffee, faint hoppyness. Body is medium, malty and sweetish flavor, some caramel - light toffee, faint fruitiness with faint hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish, some caramel - light toffee, faint roasted malt and light hoppyness. Brown ale with no frills – not too sweet/not too much caramel, though.

Bottle, thanks to oh6gdx. Clear amber beer with a quite nice offwhite/beige head. Roasted chocolate aroma, dark bread, spicy notes, cocoa powder, some grass, some hazelnuts. Chocolate flavor, dark bread, vinous, some raisins, nutty notes, caramel, some cocoa powder. Somewhat bitter roasted finish with chocolate and bread.

0,5l bottle @ Parnell’s. Pours clear deep brown. Aroma is malts. Flavor is full malts with some caramel and hops. Decent.

Bottle 0.5l at Hemingways, Oulu. Colour is dark brown with small brownish white head. Aromas and flavours are chocolate, spices, fruits, bread and some roasted malts. Pretty nice, easy to drink but still quite watery.

Bottle from brewery, BBE 02/07/13. Pours a dark auburn brown with an almost non-existent head. Aroma is fruity, caramel and nutty. Some bready malt there as well. Rather light, quite bitter-like though drier and darker. Taste is again quite fruity, somewhat nutty, some grapefruit, bready malts. Finish has wooden notes along with grapefruit. Feels a lot like a dry dunkel. Light, stingy, well carbonated. A bit watery unfortunately. Alright, but could perhaps be either earthier and nuttier or hoppier. And a bit stiffer, a bit watery now.

Bottle. Pours brown with some redness. Light beige head fades quickly. Aroma is malty, a bit roasted but has plastic yeastiness also. Slim and carbonated mouthfeel. Mainly malty with woody roastiness but quite mild and watery taste overall with some bitterness in the end. Drinkable but watery.

Drinkable brown ale. Quite nutty, with a bit of chocolate and some creamy notes. Palate a bit greasy. Low carbonisation. A little bit one dimensional. Better than its more famous namesake.

Bottled. Pours brown in color with a thin tan head. Nutty and slightly sweet malty in aroma. A bit thin. Nutty, light notes of hay and some malty sweetness in taste. Feels quite refreshing and the slighty nutty and sweet aftertaste is quite nice. Perhaps a heavier body would make this better.
