Deep amber-brown beer, tending to black with some ruby highlights. Aroma is quite rich and malty with a heavy plummy/pruny sweetness. Some lightly fruity vineousness. Light strawberry and molasses. Flavour is quite nice, light cocoa, herbal chocolate and a soft grassy hoppiness. Lightly vineous but well-attenuated. As it warms it gets a bit chewier. Lightly earthy with a bit of leathery character. Lingering peppery spiciness. It’s pretty decent really.

Bottle from State Line. Turbid medium brown color with 3-finger or so off-white head. Aroma is maple syrupy, with chocolate malt, ginger, yeasty bready notes, and mild pineapple. Tastes rye/caramel malty, with dried fruit, chocolate, ginger, and citrus notes. Unique palate and mix of ingredients, but the palate gets watery toward the end, and the cohesion falls apart somewhat.

Chestnut, red highlights; amberish head. Dark chocolate malts nose, sweet, and traces of diacetyl. Dry, sherry-ish taste, with dark malts to the fore, chocolate, leafy, faintly herbal. Slick, well-bodied, notable alcohol-warming. Good experiment, even if I cannot trace its specific components. I want more of those around, beats some established Italian microbrews with a lot of fame. Grazie, Lorenzo.

Deep brown, almost black. Thin dense head. Smells like pineapple, ginger. Very bready flavor, like pumpernickel, maybe, and hints of fruit and tobacco and leather and maybe fig, or maybe some chocolate. Flavor is not nearly as fruity as the aroma. Maybe some port or sherry as it warms. Rated on port 82. Am I the only one here?

Sample from bottle. Brown pour, off-white head. Sweet malt, caramel, dark dried fruit, and notes of pepper. Decent beer, probably not worth the cost though.
