In der Brauerei vom Fass. Die Beschreibung lautet Ambrata, scura, doppio malto, bassa fermentazione. 6,5 % ABV. Das Bier wurde mit Kastanien, Kastanien Honig und Akazienhonig eingebraut. Die Farbe ist dunkelbraun und Blickdicht. Es hat sehr wenig feinen Cappuccino Schaum. Der Geruch ist dunkelmalzig aber auch süßlich. Es hat einen schönen leichten röstigen und dunkelmalzigen Geschmack. Das Bier ist aber auch süßlich und hat leichte Honig Noten. Das erste Bier der Brauerei das ein wenig merklichen Hopfen hat. Anders als beim Pietra aus Korsika kann ich nur leicht nussige Aromen feststellen. Aber blind hätte ich nie auf Kastanie getippt. Bemerkenswert sind hier die röstig rauchigen Noten. Ein schönes süffiges Bier.

On tap @ Birrificio di Como. marrone scura limpida, solo una lieve velatura. Schiuma beige, piuttosto grossolana, persistente. Profumo abbastanza intenso, di miele di acacia, caramello, torba e tostatura.Complessa. abbastanza persistente. Il gusto è intenso, dolce abboccato, poco amaro, torbato e tostato. Il maltato ricorda caramello, torba e liquirizia. La castagna è più riconoscibile come miele di castagne. Rotonda, poco calda , è equilibrata ed armonica. Il tostato/torbato deciso bilancia bene la dolcezza del malto.

Bottle. Sweet roast malt and nutty nose. Dark tea color. Mild pastry-like sweetness / nutty and honeyish (like baklava), with a slight brandy note / smooth finish, with light bittering and then a final lingering sweetness. Medium body. Very pleasant. Mild nutty flavors balance out well.

Bottle. Rich, malty nose, nutty, much like a doppelbock, with honey, chestnut, miso. Pretty deep brown with lace. Fruity, nutty flavor, honey, not too sweet at all, with a dry finish. Well done stuff.

Pour as part of a pairing at Vetri. Pours hazy amber with small off-white head that quickly dissipates and mild lace. Nose of smoke, caramel, chestnut. Medium body, light carbonation. Sweet, some smoke with a little bitterness on the finish.

Dark brown beer - opaque with a small off white head. Smooth semi dry palate. Smooth nutty malt with a trace of chocolate powder. A little fruit underneath. Semi dry finish. Quite well joined up, not bad.

Fine aroma of chestnut malt with a wisp of smoke. Slightly hazy dark ruby amber with a noisy, long-lasting warm off-white head and streaks of lace. taste begins with caramel malt augmented with roasted chestnut, perhaps a little nutmeg. As the taste grows through the palate, a little smoke joins and remains long after a bitternut nut finish. Overall, a little heavy, but one is perfect for sipping with dessert in front of the fire on a cold night. Recommended.

Chestnut meal and honey Dark brown color, murky, with generous compact head. Delicate aroma of malt, smoke, hops, wood. Too much carbonation; at least the mouthfeel is smooth; dry feeling of caramel, cocoa, light smoke; the final is lightly astringent, with very light minty impression, and rather strong bitterness. Well brewed technically, not impressive recipe though.

Bottle shared with the Richmond guys at Churchkey. Muddy brown color, small tan head. Aroma of honey and graham crackers. Taste starts sweet, honey and malto meal. No detectable hops. Not bad as chestnut beers go.

Bottle from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours dark amber brown with a 3 finger creamy/bubbly beige head. Aromas of nut and honey. Med body. It’s lightly sweet, and it has that chestnut flavor with some mildly spicey honey behind it. Honey flavor, tho not sugar particularly, comes forth in the finish.
