michael-pollack (2603), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 18, 2009 500ml Bottle: Kinda strange aroma of honey, grains, chestnuts, light yeast, slight herbs, and a tiny hint of smoke. Poured amber/brown/orange in color with a large, fizzy, tan head that greatly diminished but lasted throughout. Cloudy. Sparkling. Full of small and medium-sized particles throughout. Flavor is medium sweet and very complex. Tastes of honey, caramel, chestnuts, light mouthwash/medicine, light mint, slight yeast, slight wood, light bamburg wood, light smoke, and a hint of malts.
Medium body. Tingly, then dry texture. Average to lively carbonation. Sweet, medicinal, chestnut, honey, and caramel finish is dry. fidel (886), Livermore, California, USA Apr 9, 2009 Poured medium brown, malty, caramel, smokey, leather, nutty, little honey, dry finish. Palidor19 (1750), Brandon, Florida, USA Dec 11, 2008 solid tasting beer, very smokey with a high concentration of nuts. its has a rich malty flavor that goes down real smooth. one for the records. nick76 (2636), Tampa, Florida, USA Dec 11, 2008 The aroma is actually like a smoke beer with chestnuts, candy sugar, and malt. The appearance is deep amber with a persistent foamy head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. The aftertaste is medicinal. Overall its not too good. 1FastSTi (2551), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Oct 21, 2008 Pours to a dark chestnut colored body with a tall foamy light tan head. The aroma is very mead like and full of honey. Smoke like a rauchmalt. The flavor has a little butter and honey and sweet bready thing going on. Chestnuts are light. The palate is really buttery and medium bodied. Perkeo (318), Portland, Oregon, USA Oct 17, 2008 Dark brown "nutty" looking ale with some liveliness, fairly decent white mantle of foam but more acid than sticky overall. Very smokey tasting, surprisingly so from the description, the chestnuts were obviously roasted! Still. intersting and enjoyable small production artisan ale.... RichJ7 (1175), Cullman, Alabama, USA Aug 28, 2008 Cloudy deep brown in color. Aroma of chestnut and caramel. Flavor is sweet and nutty. Full-bodied and very nice.
