Pours caramel brown with no head. Nose is a bit smokey with leather, nuts and earth. The flavor is the same with a dry finish and medium full mouthfeel.

Redamber beer with a nice head. Very fruity aroma and taste. The taste reminds me of strawberries.

This was the first of 34 beers at a tasting at JoeMcphee’s. Set a pretty nice pace to a great evening. Interesting beer, a little hot. Honey, spice, floral flavor with balanced carbonation. Medium body. Darker orange color, light minimal head.

Very interesting beer. Nutty smell and flavor. Dark brown with a very fizzy head--carbonation seems a bit overdone. Chestnut and honey flavors--a bit sweet, smoky. Really enjoyed this one.

Dark brown "nutty" looking ale with some liveliness, fairly decent white mantle of foam but more acid than sticky overall. Very smokey tasting, surprisingly so from the description, the chestnuts were obviously roasted! Still. intersting and enjoyable small production artisan ale....

first of a long night, and the second chestnut beer i have ever had. notes of alcohol in the nose with a bit of a bbq. the beer is a little thin but the chestnuts flavors adds dimension to the palate. sweet and a bit spicy, the better of the two that i have tried. yet another interesting effort out of italy

This is my first Italian Chestnut ale so I will probably come back and re-rate again when I have more experience with the style. Poured from a bottle to a snifter. Poured dark semi opaque “chestnut” brown with a cream colored head made of a mix of tight and larger sized bubbles. Nose is smoke with a sweet undertone very complex but the smoke is dominant. Mouth feel is wondrous: seems almost still when in the mouth but once you swallow the tight carbonation is revealed. Taste is sweet smoke, caramel and Turbinado. Chestnut is present in the palate like the smell of roasted chestnuts from a street vendor. I would drink this beer any day but come Autumn I think it just might be elevated to liquid bliss.
