Bottle shared with birthday girl Sue at Open Baladin, Roma - 10/02/13. Light black with a good sized tan head. Nose is dark roast malts, light soap, chocolate, molasses, touch of coffee, some dark fruits. Taste comprises milk chocolate, roast malt, touch of soap, dark fruits, light smoke. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry roasty finish. A decent 6.5% stout, not too complex but delivers.

Pours extremely black with a filthy brown head. Nose is metallic, oxidized, light coffee and chocolate. The taste is sweet and bitter with a small tart tinge. But not bad. The mouthfeel is soft and smooth, light body and a long finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at Bir e Fud in Toms, Italy. Tan head, light body, dark appearance, smooth taste. Overall great but honestly ill probably forget it in the large stout world. But I’m glad I found it on this cold rainy day.

Bottle sampled courtesy of Zach at Kramer’s Campdown Brewdown 2012. Pours a pitch oil black body with no head, light carbonation. Aroma is wine, oak, pepper and light roast. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of red wine barrel, toasted wood, roast, coffee, earth, oak, sharp alcohol and bitter espresso. Interesting.

750mL thanks to zdk at Campdown Brewdown. Inkier pour. Bubbles- no head formation. Nose is sharp red wine barrel and black pepper. Oak and syrah. Taste is sharp, oak, soil, earth/dirt. Bitter with oak tannin. A bit harsh. Overly dry and tannic. If this is not red wine barrel aged then I will jump into the Tiber.

bottle, thanks to bu11zeye, dark brown to black in color with mostly still head, one of the best constructed dark beers I have had in a while, great balance of charred and bitter roast chocolate, red wine tannins show up on the edges, great beer

(750ml bottle thanks to bu11zeye) jet black, sparse dark tan bubbles. Nose of oats, very rich chocolate, graham cracker, marshmallow, smells absolutely fantastic. Taste of fudge, marshmallow, chocolate malt, rich and delicious.

Bottle. Vegetal notes on the nose, with pronounced mocha and cream, with surprisingly roasty characteristics. Lovely flavours of dark coffee and dark chocolate, with a touch of bell pepper and a slightly nutty, toffee finish. Great example of the style, nicely delivered.
