COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tha aroma is rich, complex, appealing and not aggressive, with roasted notes and hints of dried fruit and spirit-soaked fruit. Winey, a touch of alcohol, with some notes of Imperial Stout. In the mouth it keeps what it promised in the nose: rich of every nuance of "dark", from caramel to chocolate and coffee, it has a smooth, silky and full palate with the sweet notes perfectly balanced by the right bitterness. A sipping, yet quite drinkable beer. Though it is perfectly ready to drink when it is released, the beer can benefit from some aging in the bottle.

Dark brown, almost black. The aroma is quite simple, some caramel, yeast, alcohol. Very good body, well structured and smooth, with good mix of chocolate, caramel and a hint of roasted malt. Correct bitterness, and at least a degree of complexity. The alcohol is not too strong. Very good.

From bottle at Bruxellensis 2008. Dark brown, small creamy tan head alongside the edges of the glass. Fruity chocolate nose. Pears like in a Rochefort 10. Pears, chocolate, well-balanced bitterness. A great Italian abbey beer- has Rome (or rather Genoa) turned trappist?
