Roasted aroma, coffee but also alcohol, spirit; burnt; classic Imperial Stout nose.In the mouth all the shades of caramel-roasted, big body but not as exaggerately thick as som US IS, more winey; alcohol. Bitter finish. IMO an english style Imperial stout. on the line of Harveys/Courage Russian stouts... quite a challenging comparison!

Dec 23, 2009 (Bottled) Almost black with a small, tanned head. Aroma has lots of sweetish malt and salty licorice, with some earthy-oaky-tannic notes. Flavor is quite dry and roasty (but not burned) with lots of malt, earthy tones and some salty licorice. Medium to full body, low carbonation, alcohol fully hidden. Very balanced and enjoyable, malt and licorice -accented impy. Not far from Slottskällans IS, but with the added complexity from earthiness. Very nice and drinkable.

Sep 20, 2009 Finalmente mi sono deciso a provarla edevo dire che mi ha lasciato veramente soddisfatto.Mi ricorda le imperial stout nordiche assaggiate di recente.
Nera con poca o nessuna schiuma,aroma di caffè tostato e liquirizia,in bocca ancora caffè e cioccolato nero,secca e complessa.Lungo il finale. Da applausi!

Sep 19, 2009 Grazie a Massimo e Fausto che mi hanno fatto assaggiare questa spettacolare birra a Cheese: la Imperial Stout del Maltus Faber è probabilmente il loro miglior prodotto attuale. Non mi dilungo a descriverla perché tanto le mie recensioni non le leggo manco io.

Jul 7, 2009 33cl bottle @ Brewery. This is lovely. I got to sample a fresh bottle and a three years old bottle.
The Fresh: Black with a creamy brown head and handsome lacings. Nose is roasted coffee, liquorice, some ashy and dry notes. 4
The Vintage: Port wine, liquorice, coffee, chocolate, vanilla. Extremely smooth, sticky and tasty. Long lasting end . . . Tasty stuff. 4,2.
By miles the best Italian beer Ive had so far!

Mar 3, 2008 Black, viscous pouring beer with no head to speak of. Concentrated coffee, aged in brandy barrel, very complex. Liquid black chocolate, with a dash of expensive brandy, cacao powder with coffee to round it off (like cappucino the other way round). Superbly viscous alcohol to a bomb, wow! Caro Massimo! Stop making light beers. Your destination lies in the higher alcohols - like this. It rocks! Mille grazie for the tasting!
