COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial is inspired to the dark and strong ales once brewed in England and exported to Russia to warm the Zars’ cold winters. It is a very dark beer, almost black, with a full body and notes of coffee, chocolate and liquorice. Long, bitter finish. Can be paired with dark chocolate, best paired with a good cigar and a quiet conversation with friends

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin tan head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, roasted malt, wood, and soy sauce. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of roasted malt, alcohol, soy sauce, and wood, leading to a dry roasted finish.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of Dedollewaitor. Pours pitch black with a beige head. Aroma of solid hard roasted malts and licorice. Solid body, low in carbonation, hard roasted malts, dark fruits and licorice but also a strange manure touch. Ashy finish, not really bitter or alcoholic in the finish. 010510

33cl bottle @ Brewery. This is lovely. I got to sample a fresh bottle and a three years old bottle. The Fresh: Black with a creamy brown head and handsome lacings. Nose is roasted coffee, liquorice, some ashy and dry notes. 4 The Vintage: Port wine, liquorice, coffee, chocolate, vanilla. Extremely smooth, sticky and tasty. Long lasting end . . . Tasty stuff. 4,2. By miles the best Italian beer Ive had so far!

Bottle from Birratrovo, Como; first beer of the year
Black color; medium sized beige and creamy head; suspicious fizzy noise. Very good chocolate aroma, spreading in the room, with cookies, some roasted malt and traces of liquorice. It has a rather oily mouthfeel even if the body is not very strong; the dark caramel and chocolatre flavor is immediately joined by a strong liquorice flavor; some of the roasted malt bitterness grows towards the finish, the end is also very salty.
It gets better after some breathing in the glass.
Indeed interesting, with some degree of complexity; it could be better with a stronger body.

Bottle, from trade with Dedollewaitor. An unclear one, dark brown in color and completely headless. Soy sauce, beef stock, roasted malts and some coffee and alcohol in a quite heavy aroma. The flavor follows the same patterns, sure on the malty side, with a little warming touch. Full-bodied, and a bit low on carbonation. Lasting finish with soy sauce, beef stock and roasted malts. Although dull looking, certainly a tasteful and pleasant beer. 110916
