On cask at Great British Beer Festival, day 3 on 6 August 2009. Oh my goodness, what a surprise. Yet another golden ale. You know, it’s hard to maintain enthusiasm when so many of the beers ordered for GBBF are fundamentally similar. This one has a whiff of sulphur on the nose. Otherwise perfectly acceptable without generating much excitement. A dash of grassy hop. A touch of fruit. An easy quaffer.

Cask @ GBBF 09, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.
Clear medium yellow orange color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, toasted, light hoppy. Flavor is light to moderate sweet with a average duration. Body is light medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is flat. [20090806]

A Mes rate. Cask at GBBF.
Gold with a thin white head. Some sulphur but the fruity and floral hops sort it out. Just. Earthy and wooden malt base is pleasant enough, as is the dry finish with reasonable bitterness. It’s ok, it just doesn’t really do anything.

Cask@GBBF 2009. Golden color, small white head. Light fruity aroma. A bit fizzy. Apple fruityness, some fruity hops. Late bitterness. Boring.
