Commercial Description:
Redolent of coffee and dark chocolate, Double Nut Brown is our amped-up version of a traditional Nut Brown. This dark ale combines a mild sweetness with a finishing roasty dryness, and is brewed with roasted, brown and dark Munich malts.

Had this on tap at the Tap in Mammoth Lakes. Has a dark brown color with some carbonation and little head. Smell is of sweet malts. Taste is medium bodied of sweet malts/slightly nutty and finishes with a sweet malt finish. Overall a pretty good brown, but nothing special.

bottle from Odeed: pours a dark brown with a crimson window when help to light small tan head that is made up of timy bubbles. aroma is very nutty with a nice toffeee malt hints of chocolate and just a real wonderful smoothness to the aroma. flavour is very smooth with lots of roasted nuts and plenty smooth milk chocolate, finishes very nice with a touch of sweetness and a wonderful nuttiness. a great mix of malt, nut, and chocolate like i have never had. freat brown ale. huge thanks to Odeed for introducing me to this beer.

(Bottle via trade with IrishBoy, thanks Richard!) Pours dark mahogany brown with brownish/rubyish highlights. A finger or so of biege head. Fairly rich sweet aroma of caramel, nut and chocolate. Mouthfeel quite smooth and nice, almost velvety. Some light, patchy lacing. Flavor of semi-sweet chocolate and nut with some very light caramel underneath. Lingering nut/chocolate aftertaste. Pretty pleasant beer.

06-Aug-08 (12-oz bottle: Purchased 12-May-08 for $1.89 at Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, CA) The nose features sweet, candy-bar style chocolate but also offers roast, toasted nuts, coffee and earth. Intensely nutty flavor, with plenty of dark roast and medium-sweet chocolate, but a fairly ashy and coffee-like finish. A touch of sourness creeps in from time to time. Medium in body, soft and smooth carbonation, but some ashy astringency in the dry finish. Medium-brown in color, and good clarity yields transparency through the center, The inch-tall, dark-tan foam stand settles to a wide ring, leaving stray strands of lace on the glass. Not quite as rich as some of the best brown ales, but still quite enjoyable.

Bottle from RiversideAK - thanks! I was actually at the brewpub a few years back and remember having this one on draft. A nice brown pour with a medium beige head. Aroma is a bit nutty, sweet & brown sugary, and a lotta malt. Flavor is sweet, nutty and typical brown ale - a bit metallic in the finish though, and that took it down a notch for me (already the brown ale despiser).

I think someone offered me this a PP bottle shop a long time ago, and the rating has been sitting in my wallet. Deep brown color. Grainy taste and aroma. Leans dry. Roasty. Not that good.
