Redolent of coffee and dark chocolate, Double Nut Brown is our amped-up version of a traditional brown porter. This dark ale combines a mild sweetness with a finishing roasty dryness, and is brewed with roasted, brown and dark Munich malts.

On tap all over the place in the Sierras; tried in Yosemite at the Lodge. Pours a rich dark brown, with coffee and cocoa scent. Taste is sweet with a nutty roasted character. Medium mouthfeel. Surprisingly pretty darn good.

On tap @ Stateline Brewing. Dark brown pour with a tan head. Aromas of toasted nuts, roasted malt, chocolate, and brown sugar. A touch of herbal hops. Decent sweetness to the flavor. Molasses, chocolate, and brown sugar. Some toasted nuts, roast, and a bit of coffee. Light bitterness on the finish.

Pours a dark brown, almost black color with a thin tan head. Nut, coffee, caramel, chocolate and roasted malt aromas. Coffee, chocolate, nut, toffee and malt flavors. The body is a little bit too thin for the flavor. Roasted malt finish. Was expecting a bit more from this beer.

Very dark brown, almost black in appearance. Distinct nutty taste as expected. Not something to drink a lot of.

Poured from a bottle. Pours rich dark with brownish white head. Aroma is roasted with coffee, licorice and cocoa – mouthfeels like a stout but not sweet or hoppy. Flavor has nuts, roastiness and coffee – feels like a brown ale. Mix between brown ale and porter. Really pleasant. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Black with a fizzy tan head. Nice rich coffee, chocolate, and roasted grain aroma and taste with some good nutty notes and a pleasant caramel presence. Thick bright and velvety palate with a roasty finish. Good.

Bottle from South Bay Liquor: Poured a medium leather brown that showed plenty of transparency around the edges of my English pint glass while a nearly opaque brown filled the dead center of the liquid. Aroma is rich with lightly toasted malts that deliver on a bold fragrant smell of assorted roasted nuts. The flavor is rich and sweet with malts and promises on the flavors of both nut brown ale and porter and serves as an interesting hybrid combination. Nice price for a bomber which is why I didn’t hesitate to pick it up and buy now rather than months later from now when the beer has clearly expired—ewwww. Good thing I caught this while it was somewhat fresh on the shelf because I have serious doubts in regards to its aging life.

Tasty beer. Nutty brown ale with a little alcohol to it. Pours dark with minimal head and lacing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
