3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
This 22-oz bottle came from from BevMo in Sacramento, CA. It poured a clear copper with very nice foamy off-white head that tended toward light yellow. Medium body and a very slick and oily mouthfeel The flavor is lightly roasted caramel malts with a big hop profile with a good dose of citrus, flowers, and pine hops. Lots of resin in this one. The finish is long, dry and bitter. I like this a great deal, and would serve with pride to any of my beer loving friends.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber from the Arden BevMo in Sacramento, CA. Pours copper with a 2 finger foamy beige head. Mixed aroma of roast malt and sugary/floral hop. Sugary? Med body. MIld carb. Flavor is roast malt, quickly covered over with citrus and floral hop. Maybe some resin underneath. This is sort of a over hopped ESB. To my perception. Pretty good stuff.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
West USA trip 2010. Bottled. The aroma has grapefruits, pine. Hazy, ornage coloured with an off-white head. The taste is citric, bit malty, piney. Bit harsh mouthfeel. Okay.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
My Bottom Line:
This friendly but mostly pedestrian India Pale Ale aligns tame citrusy hops, barley crackers and lightly caramelized cereals onto a levelled leafy, wooden hop bitterness.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the amber-tinged golden.
-The frothy carbonation and healthy residual sugars (for the style) make for a quenching mouthfeel.
-The aroma is not generic even though it is far from being as attractive as the style’s best examples.
-The hops aren’t nearly bright enough to engage the IPA lover in a memorable experience.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz bottle bought in Yosemite National Park. Pours a cloudy orange colour with a small off-white head and nice lacing. Pretty soft aroma of non-descript hops but definitely fruity more than piney. Rather gentle flavour too with the only bitterness really showing up in the finish. Better than expected honestly.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On draft at Mammoth Brewing Co. (Mammoth Lakes, CA): A solid IPA with forgettable characteristics. Spicy, resiny, grapefruit bitter hops backed up by plenty of malts. Creamy mouthfeel. Drinkability: Borders the line of subpar, but just decent. Pairing: Steak-ums. Rebuy: Perhaps to remind myself of what I just rated. #428 on 26042010, DG.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice crisp and hazy copper coloured body with almost ruby tints and a nice thin (one centimetre tall) tan head. Aroma of fresh soapy, piney and lightly citrusey hops with a lot of alcohol tucked in, some fresh apricots and a robust large body. Medium-bodied; Assertive citrus and piney hop flavour with a good but understated malt backbone and a quick and large flash of hops up front faded off with some apricots and alcohol, but a relatively mild finish. Aftertaste shows the glimmer of the hops, but no malt, sweetness or alcohol in the finish, just a lingering dryness, which is nice, but not stellar. Overall, a good traditional IPA, nothing too special, but definitely not a let down. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, California on 18-May-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 07-March-2010.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled, clear light brown/dark yellow pour with large tan head, aroma of piney hops with faint malt breadiness, prominent spruce hops on palate with faint malt sweetness, clean/crisp finish, not as overly watery as their pale, mellow as expected from from true ipa
