2.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 ChillCoat (1030) - Concord, California, USA - DEC 11, 2006
Bottle. Crystal clear copper color with a sizable ivory head. Piney hop aroma with tons of orange, lemon and grapefruit. Very fruity and somewhat diacetyl. The aroma is fantastic though!
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 kramer (3461) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 2, 2006
12 oz bottle, via fordest. Pours a clear copper with a fizzy off-white head that faded quickly to a thin film. No sediment in bottle. Very grainy and husky aroma with a little toasted and bready malts and a light piney hoppiness. Alot of graininess in the flavor as well. The hoppiness is there, but pretty restrained. The malt is light as well. Mouthfeel is light and slightly watery in texture with quite a bit of fizzy carbonation. Overall, a below average IPA to me.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Stine (1399) - St. Paul, Minnesota, USA - FEB 22, 2008
Pours slightly foggy and firey orange; sticky foam of white coating the side of the glass. Aroma of aerosol, lavender, honey and biscuits; straightforward, but predominantly sweet, with dry, spicy, earthy notes of cardamom and clove. Flavor brings a pungent character of cucumber and celery salt, quickly fading and leading to a more comfortable sweetness of mango, cantaloupe, and mandarin orange, though this remains restrained and subtle. Bitterness of a toasted sesame seed and ginger root. Palate is dirty and sharp, with brash carbonation and vegetal bell pepper texture. Lots of citrus rind with some tangerine and lime, and distant salts at the finish; a strange one, lacking in many of the quenching and refreshing qualities of the style. Thanks Alex!

Amazing hops aroma... Golden orange in color...Flavor is a little too hoppy, without much sweetness, not very balanced... Fairly bitter palate, but I’ve had worse... Tastes too piney... Below average west coast IPA
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 jarspag (605) - Orange County, California, USA - APR 13, 2007
I remember a long time ago this tasted pretty good. Not any longer. Below avg IPA - light, watery, no kick to it and nothing special. Go there for the mountain, not the beer.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 mesperon (205) - Hillsdale, New Jersey, USA - DEC 26, 2009
Unfortunately, this wasn’t a very Epic IPA, or maybe the name set my expectations too high. Light clear amber. Grassy hops on the nose. Plasticy, grassy, and a little citrussy hops on the palate. Thin feel. The bitternes from the hops was there, but the flavor wasn’t good. To acutely bitter, without enough flavor and aroma.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 mgumby10 (1856) - Jupiter, Florida, USA - MAR 12, 2007
Pours a golden orange with almost no head. Smells more malty than hoppy to me, but the hops were present in the back. A little bready yeast as well. Taste had extremely light carbonation and tasted pretty old. Light hops were present throughout with a touch of grapefruit. This beer didnt seem to have much life to it. Maybe its supposed to be that way, but not what I was looking for.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 JahNoth (1039) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAY 25, 2006
Decent piney nose. Very flat pour, translucent amber in color. Nice hop bill translates to the flavor but the body is non-existant. I taste the simcoes and the amarillos, yes, and that’s good, but come on, have some backbone. The amber was watery, and so is this. Mammoth better amp the grain bill quick.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Pailhead (3449) - Plymouth, Michigan, USA - JAN 10, 2007
Bottle: Courtesy of bu11zeye via trade. The aroma is rather light for an IPA. Light to moderate caramel with light citrus hops and a touch of grassiness. It pours a transparent amber and carbonation looks to be at a minimum. There are several large bubbles, but nothing that you could call a head. The flavor starts with moderate caramel and fades to a light grapefruit hops and a touch of grass in the finish. The flavor is definitely closer to an APA than an IPA. The mouthfeel has the right body, but it’s almost completely flat. Maybe a bad bottle carbonation-wise, but I don’t think the flavor is all that much affected. With carbonation, we’re probably talking a .2-.3 difference in the overall rating with added points in appearance and palate.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Barreras (411) - Diamond Bar, California, USA - APR 3, 2011
Pours an orange color typical of IPA’s. Aroma is floral with hints of citrus possibly tangerine. Taste is a bit on the bitter side with a citrus and floral taste throughout. You can taste the malt and hops in the beer. This beer is for people who like a bitter beer. Overall sub-par in my book but I am not a huge IPA fan in the first place.
