bgburdman9 (708), Columbus, Ohio, USA Dec 25, 2007 Aroma was citrusy and caramel malty with a slight spice to it. Flavor had a nice pungency to it. I thought this was a lot better than the ratings suggested. I would probably drink this if it was available to me.
badbeer (391), Iowa, USA Jul 7, 2008 Pours a nice, fairly clear, amber color; but with very little head and no lacing. Smell has some nice juicy citrus hops, balanced well with the some sweet caramel from the malt. This one has a very nice aroma to it, but not quite a 4.5 for me. Taste comes off a little more floral, but still retaining an excellent balance of malt and hops. By balance, I mean that hops are dominant, as it is an IPA, but the malt keeps it from being one sided. Less than medium level of carbonation, with a medium body. This is a beer that beginners can love as well as the experienced hophead. I think this would be a staple beer of mine if it were available in my area. doubleo (683), San Diego, California, USA May 29, 2008 12oz bottle from Hi-Times. Pours burnt orange with a fluffy offwhite head, sheet lace. Smells very caramelly and earthy with some floral hop smells. Tastes caramelly and slightly hoppy bitter. Sweet floral on the back half. Medium body, ok carbonation. goldtwins (3672), Nesconset, New York, USA Mar 2, 2008 Poured an almost clear copper color with a small off-white head. Citrus and toasty and caramel malt. Citrus flavor dominates but some sweet malt gives it balance. Mildly bitter semi-dry finish. Light-medium body. Not crisp but decent beer. hellbilly (793), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Feb 29, 2008 bottle by way of riversideAK... poured a hazy dark copper color. very rich looking with an off white head and a bit of lacing. initial blast of floral and piney hops leaves quickly and leaves me wanting more. there’s also notes of caramel and grapefruit. flavor is caramel and ruby red grapefruit as well. it has a slight bitter dry finish. medium body with a slightly creamy texture. nice find... Stine (1279), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Feb 22, 2008 Pours slightly foggy and firey orange; sticky foam of white coating the side of the glass. Aroma of aerosol, lavender, honey and biscuits; straightforward, but predominantly sweet, with dry, spicy, earthy notes of cardamom and clove. Flavor brings a pungent character of cucumber and celery salt, quickly fading and leading to a more comfortable sweetness of mango, cantaloupe, and mandarin orange, though this remains restrained and subtle. Bitterness of a toasted sesame seed and ginger root. Palate is dirty and sharp, with brash carbonation and vegetal bell pepper texture. Lots of citrus rind with some tangerine and lime, and distant salts at the finish; a strange one, lacking in many of the quenching and refreshing qualities of the style. Thanks Alex!
