Shag (1767), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA Mar 24, 2008 I cheated and scanned the ratings to see if I was the only one getting the unusual aromas and flavors I detected. Not something I usually do but I guess I am crazy. Here it goes.....A copper color with a decent sized head. The aroma is peanut butter, chocolate, and caramel. It smells like a Resse cup I swear. The flavor is full of chocolate, some malted milk balls, and caramel. This was straight up like a good desert. Very different but also very good. trokini (840), San Diego, California, USA Mar 21, 2008 Poured clear brown with a tan head. Roasted malt, caramel, alcohol, and leather in the nose. Velvet mouthfeel. Smooth caramel and toffee taste dominate, with rosated malt, coffee, vanilla, and a brandy-like alcohol warmth and taste. This beer company is almost as good as the ski resort behind it. riversideAK (1561), Shoreline, Washington, USA Aug 7, 2007 Updated: Feb 15, 2008Server called it a triple bock.
This shit was good man. Sweet chocolate aroma. Dried fruit and raisins. Roast and a little alcohol. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Flavor is mostly sweet with not alot of hop presence. I got alot of chocolatey notes as well as some nice roastiness. Some toffee, dried fruit, and a little bit of coffee bitterness as it warmed. Some alcohol warmth was present. This was very malty and complex. A nice nightcap beer, as I had it with no food. Fantastic! bsierra (162), Vista, California, USA Mar 4, 2008 22oz. from Mammoth Rite Aid. Very rich dark color, smooth lingering flavor of dark roasted malt, chocolate and touches of caramel, abv very nicely integrated and balanced quite cleverly. Another OUTSTANDING brew from my newest favorite brewing co. CaptainCougar (4624), Rockville, Maryland, USA Mar 22, 2008 Pours a transparent copper amber orange with a spotty-lacing off-white head. Aroma of sweet toasty pale caramely malt with some light fruity complexity. Body starts lightly sweet toasty caramely with an earthy drier malty finish. Doesn’t have the authenticity of some other doppelbocks, but still quite drinkable.
