3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle shared at CBC Clerkenwell, London. Thank you Ken! Pours red-gold with a fine, creamy white head. Spicy pine in the nose, hints of ginger. Medium to big sweet flavor, lots of toasty, bready malts, hints of dry brown sugar. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately resinous to finish, some juicy berriea, bitter pine, sweet bread. Not bad.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Reddish orange in unfiltered hue with a finger of head. Big boy aromas of dank hops, summer sage, and something that reminds me of gingersnap cookies. Medium boy, creamy and smooth, with a nice oatmeal cookie malt backbone and a resinous bite of hop bitterness. The sage is very present with just a hint of juniper. Everything is fantastic until the finish where the sage lends an astringent smack of bitter polyphenols that don’t want to let go of my tongue. A little sharp cheddar would clear this problem right up. If you like aggressive hops, you’ll most likely love this. I would prefer a little more malt sweetness.

2.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
22oz bottle from valley beverage, Sherman oaks, CA. Deep mahogany/amber pour. Head was offwhite, dense, and an inch high. Smells like chocolate, gin, and freshly fried French fries, malty overall. Fairly well balanced flavor, leaning toward malt rather than hops. Caramel malt, bitter pine taste. Not nearly as special as the scent. Finish is sweet and dry, Chardonnay-like.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep amber coloured body with a thick, four centimetre tall tan head - very nice. Aroma of pungent grassy and very piney hops with some resin and a bunch of malt and alcohol - very nice nose as well. Full-bodied; Deep piney and almost spruce flavours throughout with a bit of bitterness from the back end and really does taste like gin (hence juniper berries) with a bitter finish. Aftertaste very earthy, herbal and showing some good flavours throughout - with a deep alcohol bite and a pungent, full flavoured finish. Overall, a very nice Imperial IPA showing some new flavour profiles, a good body and a filling, yet not too high alcohol beer. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Hi-Times Spirits in Costa Mesa, California on 05-August-2012 for US$6.37 sampled at home in Washington on 23-September-2012.

2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
Medium brown, malty aroma, ample head. Flavor is primarily bitter. Strong notes of juniper and other stuff that simple does not work. Harsh and hard on the palate. Unpleasant.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a red copper with a nice off white head and great lacing. Aroma is heavy juniper and sage, somewhat off putting at first but mellows a bit and some citrus notes come through. Taste has more subtle juniper and sage along with citrus and pine. Interesting.
