COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An ode to the Owens Valley and the Highway 395 corridor, this Double IPA is distinctly bolder than out Epic IPA and celebrates the aromas of wild local fresh hops, sage, and juniper.

22oz bottle from valley beverage, Sherman oaks, CA. Deep mahogany/amber pour. Head was offwhite, dense, and an inch high. Smells like chocolate, gin, and freshly fried French fries, malty overall. Fairly well balanced flavor, leaning toward malt rather than hops. Caramel malt, bitter pine taste. Not nearly as special as the scent. Finish is sweet and dry, Chardonnay-like. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark brown color. Malty and hoppy notes in the nose. Strong hop and malt sides balances out quite well. The aftertaste is dry tart and almost a bit roasty.

Amber color with white head. Aroma of loads of resinous hops, sage, spices. Taste is resinous, spicy, the sage is there, warming bitter finish. Smooth carbonation, heavy mouthfeel. Very good!

12 oz. bottle, pours a fairly clear dark reddish amber with a medium beige head. Aroma is very spicy, with loads of sage upfront, followed by some juniper and woody resinous hops -- it’s mostly spices on the nose though. Flavour is certainly unique for the style, bringing out the sage upfront, followed by woody resinous hops which bury the spices later on the finish. On paper, this sounds like a bad idea, and upon smelling it, it also seemed like it’d be pretty bad -- but this is actually quite nice. Balanced, hoppy and drinkable. Very good.

Poured from a bottle, San Diego. Disclaimer: I threw this one in the freezer, and there were some ice chunks as I did not take it out soon enough. Powerful aroma of fresh hops. Mild head, dark reddish brown for an IPA. A lot of fresh hops in this, very strong hop flavor.

Dark amber/brown color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of malt, floral hops, rye, & rich spice; Flavor of sweet malt, caramel, pine hops, spice (sage), and citrus. Finish is bitter; Nicely balanced; Different but good - the spice can be a bit much at times though.

On draft. No particular aroma, which is a surprised. Flavor starts with sage but the juniper dominates everything at the finish. Hard to ID hop flavors beyond tart citrus, but they’re obvz there. Weird but fun.

Reddish but clear pour from 22oz bomber from bine and vine. White head, thin ring. Smell is gingerbread, cookie, and sweetness. Sweet and sugary, honey, slightly fruity. This doesn’t seem at all like an IPA to me, but it is tasty, not sure what i would categorize it as otherwise. Rating based on taste/aroma.

"sage and/or juniper have their place in beers, but i think they make this beer a bit of an unbalanced mess, and take away from the otherwise great hop profile of this beer. Good body, but there’s too much dueling for your attention. I actually liked the milder epic ipa much better. 11/09 had a couple more times...not my favorite, but it’s growing on me"

Fad og flaske: Først taster siden flaske. Duften er tydelig lyng på den ufede måde. Smagen er næsten udrikkelig og den blev til et drainpour som flaske. Helt klart den mest skuffende øl i Mammoths lineup.
