COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An ode to the Owens Valley and the Highway 395 corridor, this Double IPA is distinctly bolder than out Epic IPA and celebrates the aromas of wild local fresh hops, sage, and juniper.

Bottle from the Coop in Davis, CA. Copper amber color with a three-finger beige tan head. Rather evergreen aroma, but not over the top. Medium body with creamy carbonation. There is so much hop. It is almost juniper. It is almost sticky with resin and malt. Sage? Might be. Mostly really evergreen. If you love gin, this is for you. The juniper just rolls around the mouth. This might be something to preserve the body for the ages!

Interesting beer with a lot going on. First impression is that it’s very tea-like, with yerba mate qualities. Juniper and sage are definitely there as well. Toasty malts. Piney hops. Balanced sweetness and bitterness. Drying, tannin-like finish.

bytemesis (161) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - MAY 13, 2012
Bottle. Pours dark clear amber with a thin tan head that dissipates quickly with good lacing. Aroma has strong notes of pine and citrus hops as well as toasted malt / caramel. Flavor is well balanced; initial blast of citrus hops, followed by strong roasted malt character, finishing extremely bitter into the aftertaste. Alcohol is well masked in this complex beer.

Sample at brewery. Clear orange appearance with a frothy off-white head. Aroma is herbal with sage and floral with some light hop bitterness in the finish. Taste is a heavy malt presence with herbal flavors and some light bitterness. Mouthfeel is a bit thick. Not your standard double IPA but a nice beer uf you like herbal, floral beers.

Beer from kupros. Taste like juniper. Not a fan but can drink. Fresh gum taste... Decent beer.

Bottle... Poured amber/orange with a thin head. I like sage and I like juniper but I thought they clashed quite a bit here. Easy drinking, noticeable hop bitterness and earthiness with malt sweetness. Some botanical characters, spicy sage and earthy juniper. It all seemed there, but didn’t work together the way I would hope.

UPDATED: FEB 28, 2012 A -pours deep red/brown with high tan head and strong lacing. S - Aromas of juniper berry and sage to start. Grassy and piney hops to follow. T - Nice strong grassy and piney hops on the nose. A bit resinous with notes of alfalfa. Nice subtle malty middle and ending. The juniper berry and sage are infused throughout, and are a very welcome addition. O - A great IPA, well balanced with malts. Juniper berry, and predominant sage really adds to this brew. 8

Pour is slight hazy orange with white head, a bit fizzy and aroma has a nice pine, grass, and biscuit combination, some slight caramel notes in there as well, but fairly simple aroma. Taste is a mix of biscuit, toffee, some slight grass and pine notes, finishing fairly bitter and slightly dry, carbed a little high.

Bomber shared with Doodler and company poured a clear reddish amber with a lasting amber head. Aromas of floral notes, biscuit, citrus, light earthiness and a hint of pine. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of biscuit, lemon, grapefruit, pine and light floral notes with a crisp dry lingering bitter lemon finish.

Bottle with Doodler and Co. Thanks everyone! Cloudy, red-orange appearance with a light brown head. Floral hoppy, caramel malty aroma. Slightly soapy/floral hoppy, bitter caramel malty flavor.
