A true winter warmer to sip by the fire, Lair of the Bear is a hefty Russian Imperial Stout with an O.G. of 22 Plato. Our brewers fermented this stout with our proprietary yeast in stainless for two weeks then racked into freshly emptied Heavenly Hills Bourbon barrels and allow the beer to rest for 7 months. Enjoy now r age for as long as you like but beware the Lair of the Bear may put you in hibernation.

22oz bottle brought back from the brewery and shared with a good friend. Thanks Kevin! Pours pitch black with a nice tan head. Bourbon nose along with some chocolate maltiness. Roasted malt and bourbon flavors followed by dark chocolates, coffee and vanilla. Very nicely balanced and creamy. The alcohol is well hidden, the finish is roasty, bourbon, chocolaty goodness! Very nice! Thanks again Kevin for sharing this with me.

Bottle from Deekyn - thanks! Still had the Yosemite bottle deposit sticker on it. Pours opaque black with a medium dark brown creamy head that dissipates with nice lacing. Very nice aroma, bourbon forward, but not overpowering, chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla, molasses. Flavor is medium sweet with a good amount of bitterness, very rich, almost decadent with bourbon, chocolate and vanilla taking center stage. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. This is a nice beer that deserves more recognition.

Aroma: Chocolate fudge, vanilla, and sweet bourbon Appearance: Black with reddish tan foam Taste: Creamy and chewy bourbon malty and molasses flavor. The finish consists of a short burst of hops followed by espresso grinds. Overall: Outstanding and smooth barrel aging at work here.

Pours like a dark motor oil with a dark-tan head. Smells of chocolate, vanilla, saltines, and molasses. Taste is medium sweet, medium bitter, and slightly sour. Flavors of chocolate, molasses, bourbon, and coffee.

Smells very vanillay, roasty, and bourboney. Taste has a sharp alcoholic bite to it, this would benefit from some more time in the bottle. This is still a really tasty beer with oak, chocolate notes. This beer poured out of the bottle and the appearance was great, super thick.

Bottle from Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours dark brown with a large tan head and a chocolate aroma. There is a huge treacle and chocolate flavor with a nice bourbon back taste. Very complex and tasty.

22 ounce bottle purchased at The Davis Beer Shoppe. The aroma on this is quite pleasant. Lots of sweet, mocha, chocolatey goodness. Some roastiness is also there, and there is some bourbon lurking in the background. The bourbon is not overdone, which makes this an amazingly quaffable beer. Gorgeous jet black body with a large, frothy, strong, dark brown head. One of the most attractive beers I have experienced. Starts with a sweet, lightly dusty cocoa-powder like flavoring. This becomes a bit astringent in the middle, before a little ethanol and then some mild woody and bourbon flavor comes through. Again, the bourbon is a bit restrained. Finishes with a little vanilla, before this becomes dry and roasted late. This is some stellar stuff!

Bomber from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours very dark brown/black with an exceedingly dark 3 finger frothy/creamy tan head. Aroma is super smooth dark chocolate with vanilla notes. Full bodied and creamy. Flavor is a rotating mix of smooth burnt malt, oak, vanilla and something beyond that that seems to be alcohol/bourbon. It’s not dry. But there’s so much flavor that it all works. I am stunned.
