COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A true winter warmer to sip by the fire, Lair of the Bear is a hefty Russian Imperial Stout with an O.G. of 22 Plato. Our brewers fermented this stout with our proprietary yeast in stainless for two weeks then racked into freshly emptied Heavenly Hills Bourbon barrels and allow the beer to rest for 7 months. Enjoy now r age for as long as you like but beware the Lair of the Bear may put you in hibernation.

Taster at DBS. Aroma has more of the barrel than the flavor. In fact, the flavor has hardly any bourbon character, only mellows the beer. Otherwise, has a rich fudge up front and thins out toward the end. Very drinkable for a BA offering. Very good beer, yet falling short of greatest in the BB Imperial Stout category (...well, there should be one). ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: APR 1, 2013 A - pours opaque brown with the darkest brown head I’ve ever seen. No lacing or legs. S - so powerful and rich. Great aromas of bourbon. Bourbon, vanilla, oak, dark chocolate, toffee. Notes of pecan and brown sugar. M - medium bodied, not as rich as I’d like. Dry and tacky. Simple palate. No carb. T - bourbon up front. Dry oak, toffee, coffee grounds, chocolate on the palate. Dry tacky oak, graham cracker and booze on the end. O - simple, much less rich than I hoped. Good but not great. 4.0 ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from the bomber bought at the brewery. Aroma is of bourbon. but the flavour is surprisingly not reminiscent of bourbon at all. The flavour is more of vanilla from the oak, Lots of roasted malts and chocolate flavours. Really good beer!! Nice dark beer with chocolate coloured head, The lacing is minimal. Palate is thick but finishes lightly dry and almost watery. Overall an amazing beer, I love how the aroma is completely different from the flvour!
