COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A true winter warmer to sip by the fire, Lair of the Bear is a hefty Russian Imperial Stout with an O.G. of 22 Plato. Our brewers fermented this stout with our proprietary yeast in stainless for two weeks then racked into freshly emptied Heavenly Hills Bourbon barrels and allow the beer to rest for 7 months. Enjoy now r age for as long as you like but beware the Lair of the Bear may put you in hibernation.

22oz bottle brought back from the brewery and shared with a good friend. Thanks Kevin! Pours pitch black with a nice tan head. Bourbon nose along with some chocolate maltiness. Roasted malt and bourbon flavors followed by dark chocolates, coffee and vanilla. Very nicely balanced and creamy. The alcohol is well hidden, the finish is roasty, bourbon, chocolaty goodness! Very nice! Thanks again Kevin for sharing this with me.

A decent Ba impy stout. Not too sweet not to bitter, and not to roasty. They seem to have struck a good balance and produced a real contender. I get lots of anise and just a trace of bourbon. Remember that line from Marlon Brando in On the Waterfront "I coulda been a contenda!" Well this beer is a contender.

drpimento (2403) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - APR 7, 2015
Appearance is a decent sized brown-to-tan, thick, fine, slow to settle head, some lace, and an opaque brown black color. Aroma is cocoa, roast, whiskey, molasses, coffee, leather. Flavor’s similar to nose, with sweet and tang up front, bitter in the middle, and a very long bitter sweet finish. Body is great with some bitter high points and alcohol warmth. Big, big beer. Great sipper.

16.9 oz bottle from Robby. Thanks slim. Smells straight up like rum. Alcohol burns on the nose. Appearance is really black, very thick, nice nut brown fluffy head. Sticks around for a couple minutes. Flavor is good/great. Still a bit rummy for my palate.

Pour out of bottle, thick black pour with dark tan head, aroma brought notes of toast, coffee, chocolate into bourbon, oak, some vanilla, hints of spice in there with a touch of fruit. Taste was a mix of cocoa powder, roast, coffee into bourbon, some vanilla, spice notes come through with a hint of dark fruit at the end, finishing sweet.

Bottle @ ZZT X, courtesey of Benzai. Pours a pitch black beer with a medium sized, tanned creamy head on top. Aroma has some vanilla, bourbon, ashes, leather and roasty coffee. Flavor has some alcoholic features, light vanilla and coffee going on. Big roasty notes in the background and the aftertaste is very sweet. Alcohol is a bit overpowering and it could use some age, but still a very good beer!
