Like its cousin, the IPA, the focus of this Indian Black Ale is on the flavor and aroma of hops. We use dehusked roasted malt to provide the signature dark color without distracting from the complex hop profile created by the generous use of Cascade, Centennial and Columbus hops. The bitterness and aroma of these hops combined with slight roasted flavor make this a great pairing with rubbed steaks, spicy jalapeno nachos, and fresh cut fries w/ smoked paprika aioli.

On tap. Pours a deep brown color with a small light tan head that falls to a ring. Piny and hoppy in the nose with lingering hints of roasted malts and char. Bitter and piny up front with some sticky resin and a touch of citrus fruit. Light sweetness before the malty backbone kicks in. Roasted malts and charred hints with some caramel and chocolate. Finishes bitter and dry. Medium bodied with medium carbonation.

Fresh cut fries with smoked paprika aioli? What bar doesnt have that on its menu!? Anyway....Pours dark brown with a medium tan head. Aroma is burnt/roasty with some spicy grapefruit notes. Flavor is pleasantly hoppy with floral citrus/spice notes atop chocolate...nice burnt/bitterness. Mouthfeel is light/medium with a roasty burnt/bitter finish.

Tap at Standard Pint. Pour is clear cola, pretty deep with fluffy tan foam. Good lacing. Roasty and musty nose with some soil and wet earth. Taste is dirty, a bit gritty, lots of soil. Palate is tangy, potting soil. Eh. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nice looking almost black with a small creamy tan head. The aroma is mostly pine with a bit of citrus. The flavor has a hint of roast malt and a ton of hops. A big hop after taste.

Medium to heavily bitter, malt, roasting, pine, hops, and resin. 7.4%ABV is completely hidden throughout.

draft. fresh hops and medium heavy roast in the nose, all together enjoyable and well integrated, presented as an overly hoppy stout/porter (depending on what roast level you accept as style-appropriate for each). firm, frothy and full bodied with a moderately drying finish and tingly hop acids. lush and decadent but with a potpourri hop flavor and mild cattiness.

GABF 2010, darker pour. lots of roastiness in both the aroma & flavor. Big bitter hop presence to boot. Well blended & quite flavorful. Medium to fuller mouthfeel. Solid Black IPA, of which there seemed to be a ton of these @ GABF this year
