COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by the highly hopped beers from the west coast, our double IPA is truly a hophead’s delight. Five varieties of American hops added throughout the boil create a wide range of flavors including pine and citrus, while generous dryhopping in the fermentor provides the distinct aroma of fresh hops. We guarantee that this is one of the freshest double IPA’s available, giving you a great reason to drink local.

Draught at Capone’s: Aroma of hops, tropical fruit, pineapple, and citrus. Poured golden/yellow in color with no head. Hazy. Very sparkling. Flavor is medium to heavy bitter. Tastes of pineapple, hops, and light citrus. Light to medium body. Thinish, dry texture. Average to lively carbonation. Bitter, dry finish. Makes up in flavor what it lacks in body.

(11/16/08) Draught sample at the brewpub in Philadelphia. Hazy golden color. Aroma of hops, flowers and some fruity notes. Bitter hoppy flavor with some grapefruit and a bit of slightly caramelly malt. Medium-bodied.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma of gingerbread and sweet grapefruit. Flavor of sweet sweet citrus and grapefruit. A harsh palate and heavy mouthfeel. Not a very good IIPA, especially in terms of mouthfeel. 6/4/6/3/13 (3.2/5)

Pretty decent albeit run of the mill DIPA. Nice amount of fruity and resiny hops, with some malt backbone. It’s balanced and all, but nothing really pops for me, leaving my taste buds underwhelmed.

Darker than their APA. nose is pine and a bit of cedar, evergreen like. Flavor is very one sided with pine sap and unbalanced.

Draft pint at brewery. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a minimal thinnish white head that faded to a thin film. The nose is citrusy hops with a bready and doughy pale malt base, light hints of tangerine. Minimal bitterness for a Double IPA, 65 IBU is a bit of a surprise. Lots of tangerine rind and some grapefruit, long doughy lingering finish. Mouthfeel is thick and a little sticky with lots of clinginess on the finish. Moderate fizzy carbonation. Overall, decent, but far from being a hopheads delight. This is about as good as it gets from this place though.

Draft. Pours orange with an off white head. Hoppy, sweet citric, floral aroma. Medium body. Flavor is more bitter than the aroma with lemon, floral, and a light spicyness in the background. Not bad, easy drinking.

Amber color with a medium head. Tropical fruit and grapefruit aroma that is very sweet. Taste has a nice heavy grapefruit bite with some sugary-malt sweetness. Decent enough, but a bit too sweet and off-kilter for a DIPA in my opinion.
