COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
HOP PHANATIC
Imperial Red Ale
This recipe was based on the idea of an amber ale that has more hops and more malt. This complex sipper is heavily dosed with Cascade, Centennial and Columbus hops which provide a solid, yet balanced, bitterness and a sticky finish on the tongue. The crystal malt offers a crimson red color and a complex presence of mouthfeel to meld this brew together. Cheers

Draft at lucky lab. Pours clear copper with a small tan head. Aroma is light but has some light floral presence. Taste is bitter as can be up front and had a little malt balance in the finish. This is definitely one of the more bitter red ales out there and pretty enjoyable.

NikkTwist (1624) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 5, 2012
Draft at the Khyber. Poured a very dark red brown with a slim foamy beige head that left some lace. Strong hop aroma at first but, at first sip, quickly mellows to some softer malty red fruit flavors. Bitter citrus hop flavors surround lighter notes of plums and strawberries. Interesting ride as it goes from bitter in the nose, soft reds with a bitter at the top through the sip, then a sudden unexpected burst of gentle honey sweetness towards the end and finishes smooth, but then the bitterness returns to command the aftertaste.

on tap-pours copper with a tight tan head that laces. Aroma is sweet resin/some citrus, medium malt-caramel. Taste is sweet resin/citrus hops with some bite and roughness, medium malt-caramel. Drying finish.

Pours a clear caramel/ruby color with a medium tan head...great lacing and retention. Aroma is very floral and hoppy...spicy citrus notes and some earthy hoppiness. Flavor has caramely sweetness and earthy bitter hops, some tea...not as floral as expected. Mouthfeel is medium full and sticky with an earthy bitter finish...very dry. Looks and smells great...tastes ok.

On tap at Pinocchio’s. Dark amber pour with a smallish head. Caramel malt base of an amber ale with a good rough citrus hop base. Thick on the tongue. A perfectly balanced malty/hoppy beer. Not overly aggressive but well but nicely done.

Fresh wall of citrus hops greets you in this medium bodied crimson ale. It’s a bulked up amber ale recipe that impressed me. Manayunk has a new distributor in Philadelphia and a beer like this is welcome local addition.

really fantastic color. nice creamy, off-white bubbly head on top of a crystal-ruby amber-brown beer. big pine and citrus hop aromas alongside slightly nutty breadiness. nice medium carbonation seems to lighten the otherwise thick mouthfeel. really worth trying.
