Commercial Description:
Just in time for the fall we present to you this rich and balanced Double Red ale. An explorative style by U.S. Craft breweries. The Double, or Imperial red doubly bypasses Irish Reds in body and bitterness. Our interpretation is deep mhogonay with a toasted nose that finishes sweet, a sturdy malt balance. Have one on the boys! Cheers! 25 IBU

On tap at the philly brewpub. IPA floral hop aroma. Clear reddish orange in color. Alky flavors greet the taste buds. This is listed as an amber, but I bet it would qualify as an IPA in many beer rating circles. Ooooh boy, quite bitter. However, the bitterness does not hang as with IPA, it seems to be a bit more controlled with manners. Very little carbonation. Quite strong hops. Alky finish on the palate for a while. You know you are drinking a beer with ABV near 7%.

This was a nice beer. The color was ruby/coppery. The aroma was of buttery caramel malt, fruit (berries, melon), and some red wine. The flavor was very fruity, with a semi-sweet red wine element coupled with more fruit as it warmed. Medium palate heft. This is a very unique, and refreshing style. Try this with strawberry shortcake for a nice treat.
