COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The inspiration for this brew originates in the night of January 27th in the year 1687. The moon projected its reddish glow on Saint Rumbold’s tower, which was wrapped in a dense fog. “Fire, fire, the tower is on fire!” shouts the dreary voice of a drunken man. The alarm was sounded and people were making haste to help extinguish the so-called fire. Before the tower was reached, the moon slowly moved through the fog. From that moment on, the Mechelenians are called the Maneblussers or “Moon extinguishers”. To commemorate their heroic deed, we brew a heroic beer called The Maneblusser. A blonde beer with an alcohol percentage of 6 % VOL. Brewed according to the traditional method of high fermentation with refermentation in the bottle. For the heroic Mechelenians, but not exclusively of course.

330ml bottle from bestillingsutvalget at Vinmonopolet. Rocky, white head leaving spotty lacing behind. Cloudy, pale golden body. Spiced fruity aroma, mid-dry. Candy sweet taste balanced by a citrus touch and with yeasty fruitiness towards the ending. Dry, bittersweet endnotes. Soft carbonated. Has got its moments (Tromsø 02.06.2013).

Pours an opaque gold, soft large fluffy head that looks great. Aroma is very slight, clean floral notes and a bit of steel; certainly a little metallic. Taste is a bit dry, slightly bitter finish. Not too complex; large carbonation. Nice enough but could use a bit more complexity or ’oomph’.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Hogerdijk, Culemborg. Hazy golden with a big lacing white head. Fruity aroma. Taste is bittersweet and a bit thin with lots of yeast. Somewhat dissapointing.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden body with a large cloudy white head of substantial longevity. Nose is classical sweet estery Belgian yeast tones with clove, banana and white-sugary bubble gum as most prominent. Taste is similar, with banana, clove, pale malts, sugar and hints of honey and heather flowers. Medium body, near-fizzy carbonation. Pleasant enough, and reminiscent more of a tripel (albeit with less alco-punch) than a regular blonde.

33cl from 6bottle sampler bought @Brugge BF 2013. - Lightish Belgian blonde ale with a dry palate, moderate natural hop bitterness, almost Weissbier fruit aromas (citrus, banana) (alas partly due to added sugars) and emblematic Belgian yeast working overtime, providing layered spice aromas. Enjoyable if little exciting, apart maybe the anathemic Weizen crossover notes.

Bottle at home. Clear golden pour, huge white head. Aroma is spicy, fruity, peppery and somewhat metallic. Flavor is dry, spicy, slightly bitter. Huge carbonation and decent body. Nice dry flavor with a full body, only lacks a little in power. Well drinkable.

Swaroga (797) - Brussels, BELGIUM - APR 28, 2013
33cl bottle. Cloudy golden/orange with medium, snowy white head. Nose : tart, fruit cake, banana, red cherry, apricot. Sip : moderate carbonation that foams in the throat. Creamy texture. Sweet grains start with fruity background. Gets dry and metallic. It uncovers more sweet tart and more esters. Ending with flower and bitter/dry aftertaste. Seams a bit complex but out of balance. The mouthful feeling isn't a good thing.
