COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The inspiration for this brew originates in the night of January 27th in the year 1687. The moon projected its reddish glow on Saint Rumbold’s tower, which was wrapped in a dense fog. “Fire, fire, the tower is on fire!” shouts the dreary voice of a drunken man. The alarm was sounded and people were making haste to help extinguish the so-called fire. Before the tower was reached, the moon slowly moved through the fog. From that moment on, the Mechelenians are called the Maneblussers or “Moon extinguishers”. To commemorate their heroic deed, we brew a heroic beer called The Maneblusser. A blonde beer with an alcohol percentage of 6 % VOL. Brewed according to the traditional method of high fermentation with refermentation in the bottle. For the heroic Mechelenians, but not exclusively of course.

Orange, coriander aroma. Lemon juice, biscuit, red pepper, sour finish. Decent belgian white, without actually being magical.

Bottle, 33cl. A lightly hazy one, golden in color and with a rocky, white head. Some curtains. Quite Belgian style aroma, fruity, sugary and lightly spiced and yeasty. Full bodied, effervescent and quite dry, even though there’s a flavor of white sugar. A little touch of cooked vegetables. Some bitterness all the way. The flavor is pretty much the same as the aroma, nice but nothing more. Fruity, bitter finish. Far from impressive this one, a pretty ordinary Belgian ale, but it drinks easy and doesn’t taste bad either. 130913

Sampled draft @ Modeste 2013. Clear golden, white head. Nose is fizzy lemon, lemon drops, spices & lots of white sugar. Taste is heavy on sweet cornflakes, white sugar, corn, BE yeast, lemon candy. Light bodied, so yeah white sugar water with cornflakes, ehh...

Bottle. Peaches, yeast, and light sugar in the nose. Hazy gold, one-finger of fluffy off-white head. Fruity, fizzy, green apples, and a touch of bitter lemon / mid is mostly carb burn / some balance in finish, with a thin coating of sweet malt. Thin-medium body. Not bad, but nothing really special.

Bottle 330 ml at home, poured into a tulip glass. ABV 6.2% Pours a quite hazy and deep orange golden in colour beer, with a good sized head on top, snow white in colour and thick in density. Good retention, it leaves heavy lacing after it collapses. Aroma of peaches, quite yeasty, a little bit of sugar, a little bit of apricots. Taste is so much better than what the aroma led me to believe, very fruity, sure, but also quite hoppy. Peaches, some citrus and flower notes as well. Very good. Aftertaste has even more floral notes and a mild bitterness. Medium thin on the body, good and soft carbonation, nice dryness on the palate. Overall very pleasantly surprised by this beer, I got it for a low price and it also has a low profile appearance bottle but it greatly surpassed my expectations.
