The inspiration for this brew originates in the night of January 27th in the year 1687. The moon projected its reddish glow on Saint Rumbold’s tower, which was wrapped in a dense fog. “Fire, fire, the tower is on fire!” shouts the dreary voice of a drunken man. The alarm was sounded and people were making haste to help extinguish the so-called fire. Before the tower was reached, the moon slowly moved through the fog. From that moment on, the Mechelenians are called the Maneblussers or “Moon extinguishers”. To commemorate their heroic deed, we brew a heroic beer called The Maneblusser. A blonde beer with an alcohol percentage of 6 % VOL. Brewed according to the traditional method of high fermentation with refermentation in the bottle. For the heroic Mechelenians, but not exclusively of course.

Thought this might be a good beer but to me it wasn’t. A weird bitterness and lightly spices or herbs in the taste and smell.

Bottled from local Gall&Gall, Naarden. Hazy golden colored, small white head. Spicy nose, Belgian yeast, citrus, hops. Lots of citrus in flavor, yeast, dry, yeasty. Very easy drinking, almost a Belgian table beer.

Aromat słodki, owocowy - jabłko/gruszka, delikatnie słodowy i kwaskowy. Barwa jasnego złota, niemal klarowne. Początkowo obfita piana bardzo szybko opada. W smaku dość pusto, delikatne słodowe i owocowe nuty. W posmaku pojawia się minimalna goryczka, bardzo podobna do tej z koncernowych lagerów. Piwo bardzo mocno nasycone, dwutlenek węgla szczypie w ustach. Dość pijalne, orzeźwiające.

Bottle at home in London, pours clear gold, effervescent with a large, frothy white head. The aroma holds doughy malts, Belgian yeast, white grape, berries. Medium sweet flavor with more sugary bread, doughy wheat, candi sugar, pale fruits, pear. Medium bodied with average to lively carbonation. Sweet finish with faint bitter hay, some grains, more pear, light apple, sugar, white bread. Simple Belgo gear.

Bottle 33cl. Slightly yellow with a sturdy white top. Almost no aromas, I can only recognize some malt hints. Taste is downright bitter with no bouquet. Bitterness is not very pleasant. Not for me this Mechels town beer. Reading the other reviews I am beginning to think my bottle was spoilt?

StoutHead (777) - DENMARK - DEC 29, 2014
Bottle. Pours a hazy yelow-ish colour with a one-finger bubbly white head. Faint aroma of hay. Taste is sweet and of malt, sugar, citrussy hops, spices and yeast. Below medium body and above average carbonation. Sugary and slightly spicy aftertaste with a hint of bitterness to it. Solid - and in no way bad - but still a bit average.
