COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The inspiration for this brew originates in the night of January 27th in the year 1687. The moon projected its reddish glow on Saint Rumbold’s tower, which was wrapped in a dense fog. “Fire, fire, the tower is on fire!” shouts the dreary voice of a drunken man. The alarm was sounded and people were making haste to help extinguish the so-called fire. Before the tower was reached, the moon slowly moved through the fog. From that moment on, the Mechelenians are called the Maneblussers or “Moon extinguishers”. To commemorate their heroic deed, we brew a heroic beer called The Maneblusser. A blonde beer with an alcohol percentage of 6 % VOL. Brewed according to the traditional method of high fermentation with refermentation in the bottle. For the heroic Mechelenians, but not exclusively of course.

Draught at Het Anker. Lightly hazy blond with a delicate head, leaving nice lacing. Dry and slightly vinous, with fragrant chamomile and fruit in the aroma. Lightly hoppy and fruity through the flavor as well. A very impressive blond with delicate floral and fruity notes, but everything is balanced and this leads to drinkability far exceeding most 6% beers. A great way to kick off the day.

Bottled, thanks Rune! Pale yellow, lively head. Citric nose with coriander and marzipan. Dryish with slender body and crisp, rounded mouthfeel. Nicely drinkable and mild with some spices and spicy hops. Quite bitter finish. Elegant.

Golden yellow colour, fluffy white head. Fruity aroma, grapefruit (pompelmoes), malts. Flavour sweet malty, somewhat bitter, quite dry and quite spicy hops. Finish bitter and a bit sweet. I quite like this one. (From 33cL bottle at a pub in Mechelen)

Tasted today on tap @ Perron M, beerfestival Beer Brothers, Mechelen. Almost clear blond color, wth nice white head. Aroma: yeast, fruits touch, hops. Medium body. Taste fruity, with malt notes. Good hop bitterness. More hops than Margriet before. Like it.

The color is yellow and slightly cloudy. The foam is high and dense. Aroma has notes of peach, yeast and citrus. The same notes are repeated in the taste, which also has a hint of honey. Carbonation is medium. It is a quite full-bodied, rounded and relatively dry blonde, which is free from any note of sugar. It’s very plain, but everything is mixed together well and it is in perfect balance. I’m not really fond of Blonde´s, but I will get some more of this one, when I again come across Belgium.

UPDATED: MAY 3, 2011 good, easy drinking beer. A top fermented blond but comes as a premium lager. Big white head, very refreshing!

Fruity, hoppy and refreshing blond. Uncomplicated. One of the better "simple" blonds out there. And it has a nice thick head!

Bottle. Golden beer with a strong head. The aroma is strongly spiced, and the flavour is yeasty and spiced. Overall a nice spiced and yeasty belgian blonde beer.
