It is a concoction of 5 specially selected malts, NZ hops and fresh water from the Mangatainoka River, giving a charred malt flavour balanced with a touch of bitterness and a refreshing finish leaving you wanting to go back for another.

Perfect to wash down a hearty feed of classic Kiwi fare. Goes down brilliantly with steak and mushroom pie, Sunday pub roast, a good feed of fish & chips or the odd unlucky Mangatainoka brown trout.

Formerly Mangatainoka Dark.

An excellent dark ale which captures your attention right from the first taste. Deserves to be more widely distributed as it sets a new benchmark for a dark ale. well done Tui!

Surprisingly good given the price which was around 17 for 12 stubbies. Not the greatest dark, but drinkable Nice dark appearance foamy head which disappeared quickly no aroma to speak of will have again

Porter or American Dark Lager? In my glass (poured from bottle) it looks clear ruby to mahogany in colour with an enduring cream coloured head. Aromas of chocolate and caramel malts abound and if I’m being charitable, maybe some British ale malts. The beer is sweet with reference to the chocolate and caramalt. A little too sweet for my liking, but this beer isn’t without its charm. It certainly looks good enough to drink.

Similar in both flavour and appearance to a Monteith’s Black, except sweeter and with slightly less completity. A pleasant maltyness to it, and it is better than tui, but still nothing special. WIPA my arse. Why must Tui lie?

Draught, poured bkack but with little head (probably as most of the punters prefer). Pretty light in palate and flavour, and thin to top it all off. Sweetness in the most overwhelming character. It’s better than Tui is s good as it gets. ’Bullshit’ indeed Hendrik.

Draught in Rotorua, New Zealand. Black beer with a reddish tinge. The aroma is malty and the flavour is rich, malty and roasted. Overall a pleasant malty and roasted beer.

(On tap) Clear, dark brown with an orange hue and a creamy, beige head leaving neat curtains of lacework. Lightly roasted malt aroma. Medium in body with sweet, roasted malts and lightly burned caramel. The finish has a faint hint of burned malt. A very light Porter. Tui calls this a "West Indian Pale Ale" as opposed to Tui itself being an "East Indian Pale Ale". It’s all bullshit of course. 160208
