Pours a clean black color with a very small tan head. Smell is roast, both burnt toast and coffee being present. Just the smallest hint of mint. Taste is definitively roast, some chocolate notes, very dry and not at all bitter. The mint flavor is very subdued, coming out mostly in the finish, and still subtle. A decent stout, but I’d actually like to get more mint out of it.

A fine stout but I struggled to get mint out of it, except for a light Thin Mint cookie. Decent. Nice bottle--still a sucker for wax.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle with waxed top. Near black with a thin tan head. Roasted malts, milk chocolate, soft peppermint, mocha, and minerally. Taste is lightly sweet, a bit more on the dry side. Body is medium light with a chalky feel. Surprised not to see more mint stouts, dessert-like.

Pitch black with foamy tan head. Toasty mint chocolate aroma. Tastes like a thin mint. Surprised how much I liked it. Roasty, minty, chocolatey.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours dark with an off white head that fades quickly. Not really detecting much complexity in the aroma, almost has an off putting smell with a hint of peppermint. Taste shines in comparison to aroma, nice coffee and mint flavors that aren’t over bearing. overall, not bad!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
First off I am a huge mint guy so this may be biased. I get faint to medium mint on nose with some mocha as well. Taste is light bitter sweet chocolate with faint coffee and light mint. Finish has moments of pure minty goodness, almost like a girl scout cookie. Its right in my sweet spot, thus the high ranking

[On-tap at Mankato Brewery (old rating)] Pours dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma is maple syrup, char, butterscotch, and almost a fruitiness at times. A little acrid up front on the taste, and slight green pepper. Light mint in the finish. Very slight chocolate after warming. I was excited that this was on-tap, but it turned out to be one of the weakest Mankato Brewery beers.
