I have mild enthusiasm for this beer, the crushing defeat on the cards and the related chances of a top four finish. I have greater enthusiasm for nomeansno, macaroni cheese and the next beer I’m having.

Bottle at home. Brown pour, tan head. Aroma of caramel, butter, some licorice, slightly roasty and some English hops. Flavor is sweet creamy caramel with butter. Thin watery body. Out of balance and too mild for my taste.

I’m now winning 8-1 in a game that only I’m playing. Think I’m on to a winner. This isn’t too bad at all. Not even a waft of alcohol, some coffee and choc but it is all a little sweet and each flavour is only very mild. I guess that makes sense.

Inoffensive older style ale, very mild in character with a small sweetness and some small roasted malts for its flavour. Very dark with no head and a very light character making it very easy to sup.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 danlo (338) - Durham, ENGLAND - FEB 10, 2013
500ml bottle. Pours a dark ruby brown-black, with a foamy tan head that diminishes and a malty aroma. Taste is sweet malt & cola-like, with a roasted, nutty edge. Smooth light body, medium carbonation level with a dryish finish. OK considerating the low alcohol level.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jmgreenuk (1273) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - JAN 4, 2013
Bottle from one of the supermarkets. Poured like a flat cola with a broken tan head. The aroma is weak, but there is some dry maltiness there. The flavour is weak bitter and some malt and that’s where it ends really. The palate is weak and there is no real aftertaste. I don’t dislike this beer, but at the same time, it’s nothing special either. It it floats your boat then great, but sadly my boat is somewhere down there with the Titanic!
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Scopey (3230) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 1, 2013
Bottle at the Cricketers, Shirley. It pours dark brown with a small beige head. The nose is sweet, flat cola, hint of toast and nut. The taste is cola, light roasted malt, weak coffee, toffee and cardboard with a dry, sweet finish. Light body and moderate carbonation. Not much to it really... A simple, sweet brown ale. Can?t say I agree with the official description of "full-bodied with a luscious flavour". Not too different to flat cola really!

Bottle @ a random Irish pub in Stockwell. The pour’s deep brown with hardly any head. The nose is mild malt sweetness, hints of nuts, maybe a touch of chocolate. The taste is as mild-mannered as the aroma. Light nutty sweet malts. Smooth and unchallenging. Overall, fine. Boring.
