2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 jackl (2830) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 27, 2012
Bottle @ a random Irish pub in Stockwell. The pour’s deep brown with hardly any head. The nose is mild malt sweetness, hints of nuts, maybe a touch of chocolate. The taste is as mild-mannered as the aroma. Light nutty sweet malts. Smooth and unchallenging. Overall, fine. Boring.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 ComradeK (749) - Blue Mountains, AUSTRALIA - SEP 6, 2012
500ml bottle. Pours a clear deep chestnut brown, with a small beige head, which does not last all that well nor leave much lacing. The main aroma is prune, with some hints of vanilla and biscuity malt. Very mild grass and spice hops lead into a slightly weird blend of prune and banana. The banana persists through to the finish, where it is joined by some faint, doughy biscuit malt. This is not the world’s most flavoursome beer, and what flavour exists is not terribly inspiring. A pretty missable beer.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 stravale (1371) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUL 10, 2012
Bottle 500ml
Cola-like colour, ruby edges in glass,, big fizzy tan head that dissipated to thin layer, almost no lacing
Aroma - sweet caramel malts, dark sugars, slight sweet chocolate
Taste - sweet caramel malts, some dark creamy toffee, bit of sweet chocolate, slight mineraly twang, cola notes, bit watery, more like a soft drink
Palate - very low carb, thin body, slighty viscous, smooth mouthfeel, but rather flat.. Finish as main flavour, leave a bt of a sweet residue.
Overall - Wasn’t expecting much for 89p - but it was quite drinkable and better tasting than some Marstons’s beers (which isn’t hard). Just a soft, very light sweet low abv dark ale. Nothing remarkable - but it’s of historic interest I suppose. It’s still below average but better than some efforts at 2.8% which have been appalling

50cl bottle from ABCBeers.
Decent off white head which disappears quickly. Clear ruby brown pour. A bit lacking in carbonation and thin but still pretty drinkable.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 worldbeertaste (1133) - Lancashire, ENGLAND - MAY 10, 2012
Solid black with a red tint and a thin quick disappearing brown head. Raisins, light roasted malt, chocolate. Rough grainy prickly thin body slightly oily. The pasteurization killed it. Club soda, once the carbonation is gone it tastes like flat Coke. Brown sugar and molasses. Maybe little chocolate. Feels like flat beer. Yuk.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 rand (1020) - SWITZERLAND - DEC 10, 2011
Bottle 500 ml from La Maladière Centre - Neuchâtel (CH). Dark brown, without foam and crackling. Aromas of roasted malt, cola, sweetness. The taste is soft, thin body, brown sugar, cream, malt, toffy, a bit roasted. Maybe approximate for a mix, vague bitterness of walnut, short spreaging where nothing goes out, no dominant, if not a smooth soft.
