Keg. A very dark brown beer with lighter edging and a large, dense & creamy lasting beige head leaving a uniform lace throughout. Not a huge aroma, mild creamy choc & roasty malts. Similar on the palate, quite milky & creamy, soft roast flavours with a short and smooth finish. Soft, typical keg smooth aroma, not as watery as some, light to medium body. Not bad for £2/pint in an old folks’ social club (don’t ask).

Keg, The ’Grand’ Hotel, Llandudno (Manns Chesnut Dark Mild, 3.4% ABV). Mahogany with ruby edges and a buff cream nitro layer. OK aroma featuring distant coffee, roast, leaves. Dabs of interest; dry roasted nuts, one granule of instant coffee in a pint of milk. I’ve had worse.

Very dark colour. Smooth but thin texture. Hints of smoke and roasted malts. Easy to drink.
