Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle. Orange-gold pour with a very fizzy white head. The aroma is full of yeast, toffee and oranges. The flavor is yeast, toffee, caramel, oranges and pepper. Medium mouthfeel and high carbonation.

FlacoAlto (3737) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - JUL 4, 2013
A vigorous pour sounds fizzy and produces a two finger thick, pale, just barely tanned head in my teku glass. The beer is an amber color that shows a clear, red tinged, gold hue when held up to the light. The aroma is a nice mix of tropical fruit character, fruity fermentation character, and spiciness. The fruit character is so pronounced that it almost seems candy like at times; sweet honeydew, floral hibiscus notes, and just a bright berry like fruitiness plays the dominant character in the nose. Touches of toasted whole grain cracker like malt, and even a bit of sweet tea like crystal malt character seems to be noticeable in the aroma as well.

Lightly sweet up front with a big berry like fruitiness that really lingers through to the long finish. There is a slight tartness to this beer, as well as an earthy fruity-vegetal like note that is perhaps accentuated by a toasted, sweet malt, caramelized grain character. The body has a medium-light character to it and isn’t quite as light as I usually look for in a Saison. The fruit character and the malt character seem to class a fair amount here, together, as a whole, things just seem to take a, mostly, wrong turn.

The funky fruit character is what dominates this beer. It doesn’t achieve the dryness or crispness and bite that a good Saison really needs to. Having said that this is not bad, just not really what I am looking for in a Saison.

Pours a hazy orange with 3 fingers of fizzy white head. Nose and taste is funky, citric tart, lemon, orange, grassy, a tart funky finish. A bit tarter than I would prefer.

Bottle from Sprouts in Eastlake: Poured a glowing yellow hue with a thin patchy layer of head. The nose is initially spicy with a background of soap and plastic. The flavor is mild with a soapy and spicy taste of yeast while at the same time nothing special about this beer. Has a slight finish of corn cereal.

Bottle from Holiday Wine Cellar. Pours murky gold with a short-lived white head. Peach, apricot, weeds, lemon dish washing liquid, all in the aroma. The body is a shade heavy; lots of tropical fruit flavors here. Most of the same fruit picked up in the scent I can taste; apricot, peach, and mango too. Light dusty funk and peppery spicing mingles in, which is welcomed to combat some of the sweetness. There’s even notes of caramel underneath off of that. A touch too thick and sweet. Very drinkable though and overall solid stuff.

Bottle shared by bhensonb. Pours cloudy gold with a decent white head that doesn’t last and a fruit and cat piss aroma. There is a fruity caramel malt flavor with a heavy yeast presence and a solid bitter finish.

Bomber from Beverages 4 Less in Santee, CA. Fred supports local brewing! Pours hazy gold with a creamy white head. Aroma is citrus and earthy. Med body. It is mildly earthy, even a bit dirty, and it has Belgian characteristics with citrus. Very nice.
