Pours a copper color with a khaki colored head. The nose starts off with mild vanilla and whiskey. There’s some caramel and toffee notes, along with hints of oak and fruit. Mild oxidation is present as well. The flavor is sugary, almost a touch grainy. Carmel and sugar, light toffee and vanilla. Very restrained whiskey, some oak, light oxidation, and a touch of fruit.

Bottle from Beverages4Less in Santee, CA. Visit Fred and buy something. This is self-interest - not shilling. As his business increases, there will be more and better beers for me to get. Cap wax is challenging. Pours ruddy copper with a creamy off-white head - very little head. Love the brown shugga aroma. Near full body. Very creamy brown sugar flavor - fair toffee flavor - some wood, but it’s very mild. The whole thing is quite mild and rich, with virtually no heat, and yet there’s a back of the throat impact like taking a shot of clean Crown Royal. Which takes me back oh so many years. Finish is not nearly so sticky sweet as many barleywines. Quite enjoyable.

Bottle. Deep amber, brown color with an off white head. Vanilla, some wood, caramel, dark fruits, and whiskey. A little sweet, but not cloying with some alcohol in the finish.

355ml bottle, thanks Kier. YEs I haven’t had this. Very harsh and fruity, lots of barrel booze.

Bottle. Pours with a mostly clear copper to bronze hued body with a small, but lasting off-white to tan head. Aromas are of whiskey, maple, oak, burnt flan, fusel (hot), sweet vanilla, alcohol and dark fruits. Flavors are of flan and burnt toffee, brown sugar, burnt notes, cola, sticky sweet, cotton candy, oak, toasted wood (caramel notes), vanilla, lots of sugar. Cheap generic candy. Big, thick and sticky on the body, medium to light bubbles. Warming. Huge.

Tasted at RBSG grand tasting post-tasting. 12oz bottle with black wax. Canadian whiskey. Mostly clear red color. Thin off-white head. Good lace. Medium body. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation. Light dry finish. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of creamy lighter carbonation. Light slick. Dark fruit, caramel, some oxidization. Some vegetal. Moderate sweet taste, light bitter, light spice. OK stuff. Not crazy. A lot of vegetal

Expensive as hell waxed 12oz bottle. It pours a nearly clear deep pale copper with thin near white head. The aroma offers up a bouquet of sweet sticky malts, some pine hops and then coconut and then a smooth whiskey sensation. The taste is just solid. I get aged sweet malts and pine hop flavor mixing with a mild level of pine hop bitterness. Those notes slide into smooth rich and candy like sweet whiskey as well as a bit of coconut. Nice stuff here creating a tasty balance between the yummy base beer and the barrel treatment. Kudos for not over barrel aging this like sooooo many other brews out there.

12oz bottle. Poured clear, fiery orange with a short-lived, yellowy-beige head. The aroma picked up very sweet whiskey, bourbon, and caramel sugars with warm alcohol and a touch of citrus around.. big, bold, and very sweet. The flavor found toasted toffee, sweet caramel, and lesser nutty malts at the core, with peppery whiskey, tart oak, and a hit of citrus around.. finished warm with a lot of tart whiskey barrel and residual sugars. Heavier-bodied with low-moderate carbonation on the palate.. good feel overall, but a bit too sweet.
