Draught, Craft, Clerkenwell. Jet black looks with a wee tan head. Roasted malt, piney hops and dark chocolate in the promising nose. Flavour followed suit with some berry fruit and well judged hop bitterness. Massively moreish. Best I’ve had from Marble in a while this.

Clear dark black brown colour with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, moderate to heavy hoppy, pine, grapefruit. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, hoppy bitter, fruity hops, roasted, malt sweet. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130118]

Tap at CBC Clerkenwell. Pours pitch black with a small beige head which quickly disappears. Nose shows milk chocolate, tangerine juice, tropical fruits, some nutty soy note. Taste is bitter chocolate, tangy fruits, citrus zest, peach, blood orange. Quite tangy and sweet. Not bad

On keg at Arcadia Headingley. Pours jet black with a large foamy head. Chocolate and biscuit malts a big part of the aroma, with resiny and muted dark fruit hoppiness. It has a very long & bitter finish compared with other Black IPAs. Good Black IPA

Poured from keg at The Marble Arch Inn, half pint. Jet black body with a deep brownish shade. Film-type layer. Ring of lacing at the upper level of the glass. Aromatic with resin, roasted malts and citrus. Bitter dark fruity taste joined by dark berries and juicy malts. Rounded, long-lived bitter ending. Delicious with the cheese plate. Liking it (Manchester, 27.01.2013)

On tap at EoE, London. Nice off-white head with a solid stand. Spotty lacing. Opaque dark-brown body. Dark malts and dark fruits to the nose. Delicate taste character containing chocolate malts, berries and piny hops on a slightly roasted backbone. Dry basic bitter end.

Keg at 9a. Black with tan head that fades to a ring. Gummy resinous hop aroma, possible nz hops? Melon, guava. Similar taste with just a touch of roasted character. Refreshingly cold and well carbonated with a lightly bitter finish. Nice

[keg at the Holyrood 9A, Edinburgh] As expected, black. Thin white head. The aroma is seriously impressive - it smells something like a packet of fruit pastilles, only condensed into jam and spread on toast. Flavourwise, strawberry, soy, grapes, melon, kiwi fruit and suet. Although they don’t actually use suet. Really interesting stuff, one of those modern beers where every sip is different. Fantastic [15022013]

Draught at BrewDog Manchester. Black with a short tan head. Great floral and fruity hops creating a black grape and citrus character. Toasty and roasty underneath but in no way harsh or charred. Mild liquorice flavours. Well balanced and so easily drinkable. Great execution here.
