Hand pump at Cask and Kitchen, London. Pours black with a small off-white head. Sweet with a light dryness. Mellow and fruity aromas of milk chocolate and notes of apples and hazel nuts. Medium to light bodied. Very soft carbonation. Light dry finish.

Sample at a local tasting event. Hazy dark body with a low head. Malty, but quite thin for a porter.

September 5, 2014 at The Southampton Arms (visit #1) - handpull. Clear deep brick red with a smallish lasting mottled tan foamy head. "hmm ... hmm ... hmm ..." - smells and tastes like a chocolate/light coffee mild - not a ton of body, but plenty of taste - more baker’s chocolate than Nestles - and a surprising amount of grassiness once you adjust to the chocolate presence - and hardly any alcohol on the nose either. Thinnish and still mouthfeel, and the bitterness does build past the finish - still plenty of cocoa in there at the end - easy to drink, but not amazing.

Cask at the green Berry deal, Kent. Aroma is rich chocolate liquor, with earthy berry hop and some alcohol. Flavour is nutty choc, slightly rich with touch of coffee and hedgerow hop. Palate is medium full and good cask condition. Tasty beer.

50 cl bottle in Teku. Pours a small off-white/beige thick head; dark brown to black colour. Nice roasty, smoked wood, dark chocolate, and coffee aroma. Tastes roasted malts, cocoa and licorice. Light bitter and coffee long afterstaste. Almost lively carbonation, light to medium bodied, very drinkable. Flavours are not at the same level of aromas, would expected something tastier and more punchy

Chocolatey aroma with dark dark red black colour. Hardly any head. Extremely chocolatey taste with a bitter aftertaste which lingers on the back if the throat. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

En cask au Craft Beer Co.: Des notes profondes chocolatées très longues en bouche avec des résidus houblonnés qui se fondent avec l’amertume de chocolat noir. Corps moyen, buvabilité moyenne.

Cask at Old Fountain, Old Street. Sweet, slightly thin. Drinkable, but lacks the power which the abv should bring.

Tasted at the Craft Beer, Clerkenwell. Very dark brown in colour, but not a stout. Lovely chocolate richness and cocoa oils as an aftertaste. Chocolate and liquorice aroma.

Cask at Marble Arch, Manchester. Dark brown shade with tan head. Pleasant aroma featuring cocoa and vanilla. Impressive chocolatey taste with a nice little roasty kick midway through. Palate a touch thin but serviceable. Definitely one of the better chocolate beers I’ve had.
